Wahkiakum Eagle-January 2000 DIDRICKSEN, Joseph M. Age 48, died at Longview. He was born at Longview, the son of George and Marie (Markovich) Didricksen. He was a lifelong resident of Cathlamet and graduated from Wahkiakum High school in 1969. He was an avid fisherman since childhood and fished commercially on the Columbia River and South Naknek, Alaska as well as Willapa Bay, Puget Sound and other Alaskan areas. He enjoyed his coffee conferences with old timer fishermen and loved Cathlamet and Columbia river history of which he had a wealth of knowledge. He enjoyed traveling, visiting museums and gathering historical information and network at the canneries. He was a member of the Columbia River Fishermens Protective Union and Salmon for All. Survivors include his mother, Marie, and brother, John, both of Cathlamet and several aunts and uncles. His father, George Didricksen, died in 1996. A funeral mass was said Friday in St. Catherine Catholic church. Dowling Funeral Home was in charge.
