Wahkiakum Eagle-October 1999 DEUFEL, Donalee B. 'Dona' Age 63, of Rosburg, died at Longview. She was born in Astoria, the daughter of Edward and Delores Lawson Hillsbery. She spent most of her life in the Altoona area. She graduated from Naselle High school in 1954 and soon married Thomas R. Deufel. She combined the challenges of being a homemaker with cooking for the people of her community. She owned the Grays River Tavern and Dona's Deli in Cathlamet. She was a past president of the Junior Womens club and was a dedicated volunteer helping cook at the Little League concession stands and anywhere she was needed. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, education programs on television and dancing. Survivors include her husband at home; two sons, Mike of Raymond and Tom, Jr. of Astoria; a daughter, Sharon Hastigs of Eugene, Ore.; two brothers, Keith Hillsbery of Altoona and Eddie Hillsbery of Fairfield; six grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life was held Tuesday at the Rosburg Community hall. Dowling Funeral Home was in charge. Donalee B.
