Chinook Observer- February 15, 1979 Davis, Arva Alexander Arvo Alexander Davis, 89, of Deep River, died Feb. 8 at home. He was born August 12, 1889 in Salmon Creek, Wash., and had been a lifetime resident of that area and the Naselle-Deep River area. He was a veteran of WWI and worked as a logger and on river boats up and down the Columbia River. Survivors include several nieces and nephews including Robert M. Davis of Aberdeen. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Feb. 14, at the Naselle Community Congregational Church with Rev. Rollin Johnson officiating. Casket bearers were John Warren, Eugene Kilponen, Lattie Metcalf, Art Paavola, Matt Huttula and Elmer Tienhaara. Vault interment followed at Salmon Creek Cemetery. Penttila’s Chapel by the Sea was in charge.
