The Wahkiakum County Eagle January 15, 2009 William F. Crouse Longtime Cathlamet resident, William F. Crouse, 88, passed away at his home January 20, 2009. He was born December 30, 1920 to Wallace E. and Laura (Whitney) Crouse in St. Helens, OR. Bill graduated from R.A. Long High School in 1940 and went on to graduate from WSC (WSU) in 1948. He came to Cathlamet in 1952 with his wife, Gladys (VanBuskirk) Crouse, they were married November 11, 1951; she survives him at home. Bill served in the U.S. Army during WWII and had been a dairy farmer in Cathlamet for most of his working years. He and Gladys enjoyed square dancing and sports. He was a member of the Elochoman Grange, the Cowlitz Coin Club, and a past member of Jersey Cattle Club and Holstein Club. He also served as a 4-H leader. Besides his wife Gladys, he is survived by his son, Tim Crouse; grandchildren, Jerry Hargrove, Jim Hargrove, Michael Crouse, Dax Crouse and Stephanie Crouse; 10 great- grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son Tom Crouse in 1991, a sister and two brothers. No service will be held at Bill’s request. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bill Crouse’s name to Wahkiakum Family Clinic 335 Una Ave. Cathlamet, WA 98612. Dowling Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
