Wahkiakum Eagle-November 1998 COTHREN, Gad Daniel Age 67, died at a Longview hospital. He was born in North Carolina, to Crint and Eva DeJarnett Cothren. On June 3, 1952, he married Carol Bain at Chehalis and they lived in Ryderwood until 1955 when the family moved to Family Camp. He worked in the logging industry all his working life, falling timber for 25 of his 30 years with Crown Zellerbach corporation. He retired in 1983 but continued saw filing for family and friends for several years. He was a member of the Timber Operators council, the National Rifle Association, the Western Washington Wildlife council and the Blue Grass Association of Washington State. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, keeping track of politics and especially his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Carol, at home; three sons, Daniel of Cathlamet, Paul of Goldendale and David of Grays River; a daughter, JoAnn Poppe of Forks; three brothers, G. L. of Cathlamet, Crint, Jr., of Centralia and General of Winlock; three sisters, Margie Luce of Yreka, Calif., Joanne White of Tacoma and Barbara Hoven of Granada, Calif.; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; eight foster grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were Saturday at Our Saviour's Lutheran church with Rev. Irene Martin officiating. Dowling Funeral Home was in charge.
