Wahkiakum Eagle-July 1998 CLEMENS, Thelma Mary (LaVan) Age 89, died at an Elochoman Valley Adult Family Home. She was born in Evanston, Wyoming, the daughter of George and Mary Ellen LaVan. She lived in Cathlamet during the 1930's and moved to Seattle at the start of WWII. Thelma was a charter member of the Highline Grange #1132 and a member of the ladies auxiliary of V.F.W. Post #3017 in Longview. She enjoyed senior center activities, country western music, dancing, crocheting and reading. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gifford F. Clemens and a son, Donald R. Jeffers. She is survived by two son and daughters-in-law, George and Luella Jeffers of Quartzsite, Ariz., and Kenneth L. and Charlene R. Jeffers of Cathlamet; 17 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. There were no services at the request of the deceased.
