The Daily News-July 1991 CLARKSON, Arthur James Age 84, of Kelso, died in a local nursing home. He was born in Aberdeen, and had lived in Southwest Washington all his life. He lived in Cathlamet for many years working as a locomotive engineer for Crown Zellerbach. For 13 years, he owned and operated the Oasis Tavern in Castle Rock until he sold it in 1959 and became sales manager for Longview Ice & Cold Storage until his retirement in 1972. He was a life member of the Kelso Elks Lodge, a member of the Castle Rock Eagles Lodge and a former member of the Longview Country Club. He enjoyed most sports, especially fishing and golfing. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nadine Clarkson, at home; and by seven nieces and nephews. A committal service was held Tuesday in Portland. Columbia Funeral Service was in charge.
