Wahkiakum County Eagle-November 1995 Carlson, Lilly Lenore Naselle resident, age 85, died November 21, in a Long Beach care center. She was born October 17, 1910 in Quincy, Ore., the daughter of Joseph and Alexandria (Hendrickson) Kurtti. She grew up in Quincy and received her schooling there. In July of 1949, Lilly and Arthur Carlson were married in Kelso. They resided in Wauna, Ore. until moving to Naselle in 1959. Arthur died in 1986. She was a homemaker. She also worked at the Wauna Lumber mill and later at Appelo’s store in Naselle as a clerk. She was a member of the Lutheran faith. Gardening was a special activity. Ahs also enjoyed wrestling matches on TV and was an independent woman with a mind of her own. Mrs. Carlson is survived by a daughter, Ruth Mills of Clatskanie, Ore.; brothers, Willard Kurtti of Syracuse, N.Y., Ray and George Kurtti, both of Clatskanie, and Robert Kurtti of Toledo, Ore.; sisters, Edna Jarvi of Deep River, Geraldine Haataia of Castle Rock, Anna Oliphant of Newport, Ore., and Helen Murphy and Dorothy Nichols, both of Portland; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters. Graveside funeral services were Monday at Peaceful Hill Cemetery in Naselle, with Pastor Tony Stoutenburg officiating. Penttila’s Chapel by the Sea, Long Beach, was in charge.
