The Eagle-Cathlamet, Wahkiakum, WA - November 22, 1945-Front Page Lincoln C. Burton Called by Death. Lincoln C. Burton, 83, for many years a resident of Cathlamet, died Friday, Nov. 16, at his home in Compton, Calif. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Nola Imus, Longview, and Mrs. Huldah Salsman of Portland; one son, Vernon Burton of Cathlamet; one sister, Mrs. H. Holly of Portland, now the only living member of a family of 17 children. Lincoln Burton was a native of Yamhill county, Oregon. He came to Cathlamet 59 years ago where for several years he was a prominent figure. He served as sheriff of Wahkiakum county, was elected county clerk and also served as fish commissioner. In 1906 he moved to Portland and from there to California. The body was cremated and the ashes buried in Portland beside his wife whose death occurred about three years ago. Lincoln C.
