Wahkiakum Eagle-October 1999 BURNS, Robert Patrick He died in Cathlamet. He was born in Chicago, Il., the son of Joseph and Lottie Von Sterberling Burns. He graduated from Butte High school and in 1950 the University of Montana. In 1943 he joined the Navy where he served until 1946 and in 1950 he rejoined the Navy and served during the Korean conflict, leaving the service in 1952. In September of 1950 he was married to Marjorie Fryberger. He served as manager of the Butte Country club for six years and moved to Portland where he worked for the National Electrical Contractors Assoc. until his retirement in 1983. In 1990 the Burns moved to Puget Island. He was a member of St. Catherines Catholic church, a former member of St. Clares Catholic church of Portland, the Portland Rowing club and the Portland Yacht club. He enjoyed boating, his family and friends, reading and music. Survivors include his wife, Marjorie, at home; two sons, Michael of Portland and William of Medford, Ore.; three daughters, Cynthia Burns of Terlingua, Tex., Claudia Carani of Leavenworth and Paulette Romtvedt of Baker City, Ore.; eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were Friday at St. Catherine Catholic church with Fr. Scott Connolly officiating. Dowling Funeral Home was in charge.
