Wahkiakum Eagle-May 2000 BUDNICK, Augustine Dominick 'Gus' Age 84, died in a Longview hospital. He was born in Brookfield where he attended school before moving to Seattle in 1931. In 1935 he went to work for Pacific Marine Supply company of Seattle. He served in the Navy in WWII from 1941 to 1945 and was stationed in the South Pacific. He also fished commercially on the Columbia River, Bristol Bay, and other areas in Alaska. He retired in 1980. January 24, 1943 he married his wife Evelyn and in 1989 they moved to Puget Island. He enjoyed gardening, beachcombing and his family. He was a member of St. Catherine Catholic church. Survivors include his wife at home; three sons, Nicholas of Bellingham, Joseph of Seattle and Martin of Seaside, Ore.; three daughters, Lorene Vanderwalker of Kent, Elaine Leighton of Lynnwood and Nancy Mitchuson of Poulsbo; a brother, Dominick of Seattle; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law and numerous nephews and nieces. Rosary vigil was Thursday at St. Catherine Catholic church with funeral mass said after. Fr. Scott Connolly officiated. Dowling Funeral Home was in charge.
