The Eagle-January 4, 1952 Death Takes H. F. Bradley In Ilwaco After Short Illness Harold F. Bradley, a well known resident of this locality, passed away Thursday, Dec. 27, in the Ilwaco hospital of a cerebral hemorrhage. Mr. Bradley had been in poor health for several months but his condition was not considered critical. He was born in Bay City, Mich., July 10, 1890. His father, F. W. Bradley was a prominent lumberman in Michigan and later in Oregon and Washington. One of his logging operations was across from Cathlamet at Bradwood and Bradley Park on the Oregon highway was named for him. After graduating from the Manlius Military Academy in New York in 1910, Bradley served in the Phillipine Constabulary. He came to Cathlamet in 1912 and on April 4, 1917 he and Miss Blanche Heron were married. She was at that time serving as county auditor, one of the first women in the state to occupy such a position. Bradley enlisted in the Air Corps during World War I and has taken a great interest in veterans’ activities and the American Legion. He was a past commander of McKinley Moe Post. This had been his home until the past few years when he decided to spend a portion of his time at Seaview. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge at Ilwaco, of the Scottish Rites, and Affiffi Temple in Tacoma, the Elks of Raymond, Veterans of Foreign Wars and McKinley Moe Post of American Legion. He was a member of the Presbyterian church. Only those who knew Harold best knew his generosity and his loyalty to his friends. He was a man who never let his right hand know what his left hand did and many acts of generosity to individuals and to the organizations to which he belonged were unknown and unrecorded. Funeral services were held Saturday from the Hatton Chapel in Cathlamet and interment was in Fern Hill cemetery of Skamokawa. Rev. Kenneth Cooper, pastor of Cathlamet Congregational church, conducted the chapel services and Miss Jessie Sawyer sang “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” and “Abide With Me”. Graveside services were conducted by the Ilwaco Masonic lodge and McKinley Moe American Legion post. Acting pall bearers were Reese Williams, Bert Cory, William Greer of Ilwaco, Edwin Carlson, Robert Hughes and Melvin Coates of Cathlamet. Honorary pall bearers were David Irving, H. Zohl, J. B. Woods, W. Braumbaugh and Vernon Braumbaugh, Terry Lehman of Ilwaco, Henry Hansen, Paul Zollner, C. I. Wood, George Witham, Frank Shuster and Dr. H. D., Fritz.
