Lower Columbia Eagle-July 21, 1960 Services held for Mrs. Ellen Braaten Mrs. Ellen Marie Braaten, 72, Cathlamet, died July 13 in a Longview hospital. She was born August 10, 1887, in Kristiansund, Norway. She came to the United States in 1908 and to Cathlamet in 1917. She was a charter member of the Cathlamet Assembly of God Church. Survivors include her husband, Gunval, Cathlamet; two daughters, Miss Myrtle Braaten, Cathlamet, and Mrs. Dagney Brannen, Portland; a son, Arnold, San Lorenze, California; three sisters, Mrs. E. J. Bjerkeseth, Seattle, Mrs. Inga Ellingse, Centralia, and Mrs. Jesefa Aa in Norway. Funeral services were Saturday in the Cathlamet Assembly of God Church, with Rev. John Turner officiating and Rev. O. E. Marr, assisting. Mrs. John Turner was the pianist; Rev. and Mrs. Frank Cole duetists and Rev. O. E. Marr was the soloist. Pallbearers included Cecil Eaton, Andrew Fudge, Alfred Stone, Irvin Tonkin, Robert Trimble and Irvin Hodgson. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery. The Dowling Funeral Home was in charge.
