The Daily News-November 1975 Ray Jesse Bowman Age 80, of Puget Island, died at home. He was born in Olympia and had been a resident of Puget Island for 48 years. He attended both high school and college at St. Martins, was a WWI veteran, a member of the American Legion, Veterans of WWI, the Elks Lodge in Astoria, Ore., St Catherines Catholic Church, and had been employed as a construction foreman at General Construction Company in Portland for many years. Survivors include his wife, Vyra, at home; one daughter, Hariette Welter of Portland; one brother, Henry Korter of Yakima; two nieces, Vera Misplie of Toppenish, Mrs. Davis Ames of Ocean Park; three nephews, Edward Gunnyon of Toppenish, Harry Kent Jr. of White Swan, Burdette Kent of Wapato; one grandson, Kyle Oatfield of Puget Island. Rosary was said Monday at Dowling Funeral Home, Cathlamet, and Mass was said Tuesday at St. Catherines Catholic Church, with Rev. Joseph O'Shea officiating. Dowling Funeral Home was in charge.
