Wahkiakum County Eagle-August 1995 Bond, Wilma Joanice Rosburg native, age 71, died August 4, 1995, in Seattle, her residence the past 15 years. Mrs. Bond was born April 10, 1924 in Rosburg, the daughter of Theodore and Litta (Knifong) Swanson. Her father owned a shingle mill and was partner of Grays River Logging. Mrs. Bond attended Naselle-area schools and graduated from Naselle High school where she was a cheerleader. Following high school, she moved to Tacoma where she worked in a department store during WWII. She married Darrell Clark, the father of her children, and they moved to Naselle where they owned the O’Connors Tavern. Mrs. Bond later lived in Oregon and then in Longview for a number of years before moving to Seattle where she was a homemaker. Mrs. Bond was an avid reader who also followed politics closely. A lady with a good sense of humor, her family will remember the love she gave her children and family, and her smile. Mrs. Bond is survived by a daughter, Monica Middleton of Bellevue; son, Monte Clark of Issaquah; brother, Ted Swanson of Naselle; sisters, Lillian Whitten of Naselle, Lenore Sorenson of Vancouver and Gloria Clark of Grays River; and one granddaughter. She was preceded in death by a brother Willard and sisters Olive and Florence. Graveside services were Tuesday at Grays River Cemetery with Rev. Kenneth Hammer officiating. Penttila’s Chapel by the Sea, Long Beach, was in charge.
