The Daily News- February 1990 BLIX, Sankey Alfred Retired boatbuilder of Cathlamet, died in a Portland hospital. He was born on Puget Island, the son of Puget Island pioneers, Sigurd and Sigred Blix, who came to the area after their marriage in 1912. He and his brother, Marvel, followed their father into his business of designing and building wooden fishing boats. He was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, the Puget Island Sons of Norway, the Puget Island Grange, the Wahkiakum Lions Club and the Cathlamet Senior Citizens. He was preceded in death by his father, Sigurd, in 1980; his mother, Sigred, in 1986; a son, John in 1974; and a grandson, Garett Nelson, in 1975. He is survived by three daughters, Krista McGuire of Tigard, Ore., Anita Kangas of Longview, and Sylvia Link of Roseville, Calif.; a sister, Evelyn Randolph of Sacramento, Calif.; a brother, Marvel Blix of Puget Island; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service was held Saturday at the First Free Church of Puget Island with Pastor David Gerlach officiating. Dowling Funeral Home was in charge.
