Wahkiakum Eagle-May 2001 BLIX, Marvel Henning Age 86, died at the Longview Hospice. He was born on Puget Island to Sigurd and Sigrid A. Rohlfson Blix and was a life long resident of Puget Island. He attended Cathlamet schools. On June 18, 1939 he married Evelyn Nilsen at the First Free Lutheran church. He worked for a time at the Mare Island Navy Yard in Vallejo, Calif., and designed and built boats on Puget Island. He also fished in Alaska on Prince William Sound and Cooks Inlet and on the Columbia river. He was a life member of the Sons of Norway and a member of the First Free Lutheran Church of Puget Island. His interests included gardening, fishing, camping, clam-digging and he especially enjoyed his family, his grandchildren and great- grandchildren and woodcrafts where he built models of Norwegian Viking and commercial fishing boats. Survivors include his wife at home; three sons, Jerry, Arvid and Dennis, all of Puget Island; a daughter, Sharon Gorley of Castle Rock; eight grandchildren and 17 great-grand-children and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services were Friday at the cemetery with Pastor Wood officiating. Dowling Funeral Home was in charge.
