Wahkiakum Eagle-January 1997 BLAIN, Raymond Elton Age 71, a Rosburg resident, died at an Astoria hospital. He was born in Saginaw, Mich., to Roland and Leona (Griffeth) Blain. He served in the Army during WWII. He and Betty Bauer were married July 10, 1945, in Andersonville, Mich. He started working in the timber industry in 1953, and spent 26 years employed by Weyerhaeuser Co., where he retired in 1984. He was a member of the International Woodworkers of America Local 311. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling. He is survived by his wife, Betty, at home; three daughters, Bernadine Chattick and Robin Stanley, both of Olympia, and Julie Tearney of Patterson, Calif.; three sons, Ed of Rosburg, Greg of Naselle and Jeff of Olympia; a sister, Laura Rhodes of Longview; a brother, Franklin of Grays River; 17 grandchildren; six great- grandchildren, and many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins. He was preceded in death by a sister, Delores Miller. Funeral services were held Saturday from Dowling Chapel with Rev. Walter Forberg officiating. Dowling Funeral Home was in charge.
