Miss Louise Birnie only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alex. T. Birnie, of
Cathlamet, died in the St. Vincent hospital, Portland, Saturday, October
13th, 1900, age forty year and six months.  Her death came quite
unexpected to a large number of her friends who where not aware of her
illness.  The funeral took place Tuesday afternoon from Congregational
church in Cathlamet.  Rev. J. McCormac, of Astoria, conducting the
services.  A large concourse of old friends of the family attended the
funeral, and the floral emblems laid upon the casket were both profuse
and beautiful.

Miss Birnie was born in Cathlamet and had passed her life there, and
being possessed of a lovable disposition she leaves behind many sincere
and true friends to mourn her sudden death.  Her passing away comes
particularly hard on her parents, who have the sincere sympathy of the
community in their hour of sorrow.
