Wahkiakum Eagle-June 2001 BENISON, John P. He died at St. John Hospital, in Longview. He was born in Natchez, Mississippi to Thomas and Monteray Benison and has lived in Washington for the last four years and 20 years in Seward, Alaska. He worked several different jobs over the years, but the longest jobs were with Grand Rapids School System and American Gas Company of New York (he was the boss of the group which put natural gas in Washington and Oregon.) He served in the Navy in WWII and enjoyed Alaska's wilderness, fly- fishing, watching auto racing and boxing on TV. He was a great old salt that will be missed by his family and friends. His wife Betty of Cathlamet survives him at home; other survivors include two sons, Garry and wife Isabelle of Portage, Mi. and David and wife Judy of Jenison, Mi.; two daughters, Donna Lou and husband David Sanders of Michigan City, Ind., and Jaclyn and husband Scott Bloomfield of Grand Rapids, Mi.; 16 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; four stepchildren: Teena Kuller of Anchor Point, Alaska, Marty Kuller and wife Sue of Skamokawa, Debbie Kuller and Al Harris of Puget Island, Dale Kuller of Seward, Alaska and three step-granddaughters. No service was held. Cremation was handled by Green Hills Memorial Gardens of Kelso. Burial place unknown 19 Jun 1921-02 Jun 2001 (As transcribed by the Wahkiakum County Historical Society Museum)
