Wahkiakum Eagle-February 2000 BAUER, Beatrice J. Age 74, a Puget Island resident. She was born in Minnesota, the daughter of William and Gertrude Jurgenson. She worked as a telephone operator most of her life, beginning that career at the age of 17. She retired from U.S. West Communications where she was a member of the Communications Workers Union. She married William Bauer in Tuscon, Ariz., in 1972 and they moved to the Wahkiakum area in 1977 to make their home on Puget Island. She enjoyed creating ceramics, roller skating, riding motor-cycles and traveling. Survivors include her husband, William, at home; sons, Ed Longtine of Wisconsin and Gary Longtine of Nevada; stepson, Bruce Bauer of New York; daughter, Laurie Schwartz of Tuscon; stepdaughters, Trudy Ann Bauer of New York and Carla Bauer of Albuquerque, N.M.; a brother, Bill Jurgenson of Wisconsin; a sister, Ramona Wirl of Wisconsin; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. There were no services. Dowling Funeral Home was in charge. Beatrice J.
