The Wahkiakum County Eagle-September 2, 1999 Tamara L. Bain Tamara Lynn Bain, 56, of Longview; died August 25 at the Hospice Care Center. She was born December 31, 1943, in Cathlamet to Dale Lower and Pearl (Nixon) Rose, and spent most of her life in Cathlamet, except for several years in California where she attended school. She had lived in Longview for the last year and a half. She and Jerry E. Bain were married August 7, 1961, in Riverside, Calif. The marriage latter ended. During her working years, she worked for Hendrickson Lockers, was one of the original swim instructors at the Julia Butler Hansen Swimming Pool, and was a bookkeeper and teller at the Wahkiakum Seafirst Bank. She served as the chief deputy treasurer of Wahkiakum County and eventually was the Wahkiakum PUD auditor, also representing the PUD in financial and insurance dealings. She retired in October 1998. She was a member of the Powerhouse Gym, Northwest Loners on Wheels, and the Wahkiakum Anchor club. She served as Wendt smorgasbord chairman. She enjoyed doing “mom” things such as Scouts and 4-H. She directed a children’s Christmas play, wrote and directed the play, “Irving the Elf”, and wrote “State Mouse Squeaks” for the Wahkiakum County Eagle. She worked backstage and onstage with the Cathlamet Little Theater and backstage for IC Productions (Pierre’s dinner theater). She also loved music, dancing, playing cards, cribbage, shooting pool and enjoying the river. Survivors include her son, Greg Bain of Cathlamet; two daughters, Tari Peterson of Santa Cruz, Calif., and Angie Castillo of Medford, Ore.; a brother, David L. Rose of Idaho Falls, Idaho; two sisters, Rita J. Wiegand of Los Angeles, and Deedee Satterfiled of Riverside; five grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Twin daughters died at birth on June 9, 1965. There was a celebration of her life Saturday at the Elochoman Slough Marina. Arrangements were by Dowling Funeral Home. Tamara L.
