The Eagle-February 01, 1945 Former Cathlamet Resident Dead Lena M. Andrews, 70, wife of Leonard Andrews, died Wednesday, January 24, at her home in Garibaldi, Oregon. She was born at Big Bras d'Or, Nova Scotia, Canada, October 28, 1874, and had lived for 50 years in the United States, the last 15 of them in Garibaldi. She had been a trained nurse. Besides her husband, she is survived by four brothers. Funeral services were held at Lundberg's chapel in Tillamook, Oregon, Sunday with burial at Bay City cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. Andrews were formerly residents of Cathlamet where Mr. Andrews, who is a grandson of James Birnie, the founder of Cathlamet, was born. Their home was on part of the original Birnie donation land claim where the Marcovich building now stands. Mrs. Andrews was a nurse and it was in that capacity that she first came to this locality. After some time here Mr. and Mrs. Andrews moved to Garibaldi, where they have lived for the past 15 years. Mr. Andrews attended the Pioneer picnic last August and spent a few days here with friends. Plans were being made for a visit from Mrs. Andrews when word came Sunday of her death. Lena M.
