Wahkiakum Co. Eagle-November 1996 ANDERSON, Victor Edward Age 70, died Monday at his Skamokawa home. He was born at his home in Skamokawa to B. Iver and Clara May (Bjornsgaard) Anderson. At the age of nine he began working, delivering milk for Gerald Sonners, and when he was 14, he drove the milk truck for the Skamokawa Creamery Assoc. In 1944 he joined the Army and served in the Philippines where he earned many awards including the Purple Heart. Dec. 7, 1946, he was married to Audrey Moonen in Skamokawa. He worked in the woods most of his life, doing all types of work and ending with 25 years of driving a log truck. He spent a short time working on an oil tanker but missed his family and returned to logging. He worked for Durrah and Martin Logging from 1950 to 1988. He was a charter member of the Skamokawa Fire department, and a member of I.W.A., VFW and the Skamokawa Grange. He enjoyed cutting firewood, farming, the river and, most of all, his family. Survivors include his wife, at home, two daughters, Vickie Reid of Brewster and Susan Cotter of Cathlamet; two sons, Rick of Skamokawa, and John of Kelso; a brother, Bert Anderson of St. Helens, Ore.; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Graveside services were held Thursday with Rev. Irene Martin officiating. Dowling Funeral Home was in charge.
