Wahkiakum Eagle-January 1999 ANDERSON, Ernest Andrew Age 87, of Naselle, died in Longview. He was born on the family homestead near Lakeside, Ore., to Andrew and Mary Anderson. When he was seven years old he was orphaned and lived at a foster home on the Siletz River in Oregon until his teens, later living on a ranch near The Dallas, Ore., for several years. He then moved to Deep River where he worked on the log boom and later became a timber faller. He met Olga Simila when she worked at Appelo's Store in Deep River, and they were married August 15, 1936, in South Bend. He worked as a timber faller for several gyppo loggers in the Naselle area until going to work for Crown Zellerbach Timber. He later worked 12 years for Grays River Logging until retirement in 1974. He was a member of Local 311, International Woodworkers of America, and the Congregational Church of Naselle. Hunting, fishing, clamming and taking his dog for a ride in the woods were favorite activities. In earlier years, he and his wife enjoyed trips throughout the western United States. He is survived by a son, Rodney of Astoria; two granddaughters; and a great-grandson. Graveside services were held Monday at the cemetery in Naselle with Pastor Kenneth Hammer officiating.
