Wahkiakum Eagle-March 1999 Nora Eileen Ames Age 70, died of natural causes at Ocean View Convalescent Center in Long Beach. She was born in Astoria, Ore., the daughter of Eric and Irene Wirkkala Nicholson. She was raised at Deep River Logging Camp in Deep River, and attended school in Naselle. She graduated from Naselle High School, a member of the class of 1947. Shortly after high school in August of 1947, she married Reino Anderson. They lived in Naselle establishing their home on Upper River Road and became parents of two sons and two daughters. In 1976 Eileen and Halsey Ames were married in Tumwater. They made their home in Oysterville. She had lived in Pacific County all her life. She was a member of the Ocean Park Eagles Lodge and the Peninsula Moose Lodge. Always involved in crafts, she made beautiful ceramics including lawn elfs on which she did an exceptional job of painting, especially facial features. She also worked with beads and made lovely beaded bells. She loved all types of music and played the organ, accordion and guitar. Both husbands and an infant son preceded her in death. Survivors include her daughters, Kathleen (Jim) Morgan of Ocean Park and Marlene Cornell of Ketchikan, AK; her son, David R. Anderson of Spanaway; sisters, Mary Jo (Bill) Smith of Everett, and Delores (Pat) Carlson of Ridgefield; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two great-grandsons; and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services were Tuesday at the cemetery in Naselle. Penttila's Chapel by the Sea, Long Beach, was in charge.
