The Daily News-May 1978 Carolyn Mae Almer Age 35, of Skamokawa, died in a Longview hospital. She was born in Astoria, and grew up in Pillar Rock, Wash., attended grade school in Dahlia and graduated from Naselle High School in 1959. She had been employed as postal clerk in Skamokawa for several years and was active in community affairs, including membership in the United Methodist Church in Skamokawa, the Elks Lodge in Long Beach, the Eagles in Kelso and the Skamokawa Grange. Survivors include her husband, Leon 'Red' Almer at home; two daughters, Rita and Julie Almer at home; one stepson, Jim Almer of Longview; parents, Eugene Goodell Sr. and Ethel Goodell of Astoria; three brothers, Eugene Goodell, Jr. of Portland, Lawrence Goodell of Knappa, Ore., Clifford Godell of Astoria; one sister, Annette Goodell of Astoria; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Monday at the Congregational Church in Cathlamet with Rev. Everett Groves officiating. Burial was at the Fern Hill Cemetery, but later moved.
