TOM ALANEN
  Tom Alanen, 89, of Deep River died Sunday in a Cathlamet rest home.  Mr. 
Alanen was born June 5, 1880, in Ilmajoki, Finland and came to the United 
States in 1903. He had lived in the Deep River area since 1916 and was a 
retired logger and a member of the Lutheran church.
  Survivors include a son in Finland; a granddaughter; three great-
grandchildren and several nieces.
  Services were held Wednesday from the Deep River Lutheran church with Rev. 
Chris Bruland officiating.
  Interment was in the Deep River cemetery with Penttila’s Chapel by the Sea 
of Long Beach in charge.
