The Daily News- Longview, Wa.-November 1973 Isaac Calvin Akers A pioneer of Cathlamet, died at home. He was born in Dillard, Ore., and came to Cathlamet in 1907, at which time he worked as a logger. On July 21, 1910 he married Helen Jane Stone in Portland. He was employed for many years by Babbidge and Holt Building Supply. He was one of the original Cathlamet volunteer firemen, had been on the city council and for 14 1/2 years was superintendent of the Greenwood Cemetery in Cathlamet. Survivors include the widow, Jane, at home; one son, Laurence Akers of North Tiberton, R.I.; one daughter, Eleanor Taylor of Cathlamet; one brother, Elbert Akers of Ashland, Ore.; four grandchildren, four great- grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Memorial services were held Sunday in the Dowling Funeral Chapel with Mitchell Doumit officiating. Cremation followed. Dowling Funeral Home was in charge.
