Published in The Daily News on 9/20/2005. Donald F. Ahrens 1925 - 2005 Donald Fredrick Ahrens, 80, of Clatskanie, died Sept. 16, 2005. He was born Aug. 18, 1925, in Cadott, Wis., to Hugo and Lena Ahrens. He moved to Washington as a child and to Clatskanie in 1965. Mr. Ahrens graduated from Skamokawa High School in 1942. He served in the Army during World War II. He worked at Food Land in Clatskanie, Super Value in Kelso, Longview grocery stores, saw mills and ran Dirty Don's Tavern from 1969 to 1980. He retired from Beaver Lumber in 1981. He married Florence Smith in 1948. They later divorced. He is survived by two sons, Donald Ahrens and Gary Ahrens; a daughter, Sue Holum; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. At his request, no service will be held. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Haakinson-Groulx Mortuary, Clatskanie.
