Wahkiakum Eagle-January 1998 Frieda H. Aegerter Age 83, of Puget Island, died at St. Johns Medical Center. She was born in Courfaivre, Switzerland, to Frederic and Rosa (Schwab) Wuhl, and was raised and educated in Switzerland. She and Gottfried Aegerter were married April 9, 1938, in Switzerland, and came to North America in 1948. They farmed in Quebec, Canada, from 1948 until 1955, when they moved to Puget Island and established a dairy farm. The Aegerters worked their dairy farm together until 1974, when Mr. Aegerter retired. He died in 1975. She continued to operate the farm with her sons until the mid-1980s. The farm, her family and friends were most important to her. She was known as a wonderful cook. She also enjoyed working with her flowers and traveling. She made numerous trips to visit her family in Switzerland over the years, her last trip being in summer 1997. She was a member of the Last Tuesday club of Cathlamet, the Pinochle club of Puget Island and the Wahkiakum Historical Society of Cathlamet. Survivors include two sons, John and Fred Aegerter, both of Puget Island; a sister, Lydia Meichtry of Geneva, Switzerland; three grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews in Switzerland.
