The Wahkiakum County Eagle, Cathlamet, Washington – August 26, 1971 Photograph of Mickey’s Tavern Softball Team Mickey’s Tavern of Cathlamet dropped their opener but stormed back to take six straight wins and become the victors in the Astoria Invitational Softball Tournament August 14 and 15. Pitcher Larry Powell of Mickey’s was named most valuable player in the tournament. Pete Doumit, left fielder, and Wayne Reid, catcher, earned berths on the all star team. Doumit hammered out five home runs and Reid slammed four home runs during the weekend. While Rusty Hampton did not receive an award, he was cited as deserving recognition for his outstanding playing by K. R. McNally, team manager. Team members are (standing, left to right) K. R.
