ISENSEE -- Between 1903-07 family history says Francis Isensee was a student at Olympia High School (b. 1888 in Bellingham); that he sang a solo for Olympia high school graduation in abt 1906. WA State Library in Tumwater has no yearbooks and the Librarian discovered other yearbook locations start in 1932. Would anyone be able to get a copy of picture of Francis Isensee while in high school and also commencement program for 1906? He may have been in the choir.

Francis Isensee was living with his grandfather, Michael Anderson (Legislature from Whatcom Co. 1890-1894). Congressman Michael Anderson stayed in Olympia for several years. I dont know if he owned a home or rented. The WA State Library in Tumwater has no city directories prior to 1911.

Thank you for any assistance you can provide for me.

RICE -- Lizzie Rice and her son Ed Rice are listed on the 1900 WA state census with my Great Grandmother Rosella Blanche Leabo Rice and a baby daughter Edith. Lizzie and son Ed disappear after this census. Rosella (or Blanche) returns to Oregon with two daughters, Edith and Leona, and is listed as McCumber on the 1910 census in Ollala, OR. I have profiled her life and her daughters after 1900.

The mystery is Lizzie (Elizabeth? Eliza?) and great grandfather Ed RICE. To date, no records in Pierce or Thurston County nor cemetery records have offered a key. The origin of Lizzie's parents (NC and Tenn.) are difficult to trace as I do not have her maiden surname.

WATSON-- My mother, Alice Elizabeth Watson was born on 15th July, 1919 in Olympia, Washington. I am looking for information on her and her family during the time they lived in Thurston County, Washington. I know absolutely nothing about her family! I am now trying to piece together my family history on her side. All I remember as a kid was that Uncle Frank and Grandpa lived with us until they passed away when I was still a small child. I have no idea who they were. For whatever reasons, my parents never shared our family history with myself and my brother. Knowing more about her and her family would give me a feeling of roots that go deeper than my own personal roots which started in Will County, Illinois in 1958.

Thank you for any help you might provide to set me on the right path!

I know that my grandfather and some others are buried between Bucoda and Tenino. What I need to know is was Thomas Churchill's father Gladstone, and who was his wife? I was told she was Native American, but I can't find a name or where she is buried?

ADAMS -- I have a great grandfather that supposedly came to Olympia about 1862 before he settled on Whidbey Island in 1870. He was a sea captain and sailed various vessels around the Puget Sound area. He was supposed to have gone to Olympia and been a hotel keeper or in the hotel business for a short period of time. I am interested in finding out if this family lore was true. I have done a lot of research on my own and also early family members have done reseach. His full name was Jonathan Pinkham Adams, born about 1830, and died in Oak Harbor, WA, in 1902. He was originally from Newcastle, Lincoln Co, ME, and owned the schooners Lottie and the Mary Parker both build in Utsalady in 1868-1876 . He was nearly 50 years when he married in 1878.

SHANTY(IE) -- I am looking for Frank Shanty(ie) who worked for a Paper Mill in spring of 1921. Prior to then in 1918 he was at one in Oregon City, OR. A son also was with him for a while. Frank Shanty(ie) was 42 in 1921 when (as sent to his wife in NY), a message that he died in a car accident was sent to her with no ex-planation where, how, or other. He also was thought to have posibly partisipated in Union Strikes maybe as a Strike Breaker. This leads to reason to believe that there was some other than a car accident that caused his death due to the nature of the mesage recieved by the wife. He was burried in the Cemetery at Camas, Clark Co., Washington. A picture of the grave had been sent in the past to the descendants. If anyone can check the Archived Newspaper's of Wa. area, possibly, in Clark Co, maybe, Vancouver, Camas ( if there was one?),or Archived in Olympia, Wa. for an article ref. to his death in spring of 1921. It would be most welcome to have a copy w/ dates, place etc. of this accident and the obituary of this man, Frank Shanty(ie) age 42. Please scan and send or ask for address to send to.

I have reason to believe that Lena is the daughter of Magnild and Hermund Olson, who settled in Lone Rock township, Moody County SD in 1877. Magnild died in 1881, Hermund remarried and moved to Minnesota, taking the boys with him, but daughter Oline (Lena) had married. Any connection with family would be much appreciated.

DALAN -- Looking for any information on the Thomas T. Dalan family. This family of 11 (nine children) were in the So. Union pct for the 1930 federal census & Thomas was killed, while walking along the Yelm McKenna Hiway on August 16, 1953. At that time only some of his children are mentioned. I am assuming his wife Julia died prior to that time, in Thurston Co. Thomas story is in the Nisqually Valley News dated Aug 20, 1953 p.1. I also assume he was a 20 year resident of Yelm, based on the news story.

I am looking for the location of the Mountain View Cemetery & also weather any other members of this family are buried of married in the area.

The Dalan surname is peculiar to Thomas & his siblings so any Dalan info in Thurston Co. is relevant.

Howard Berglund   6 June 2007
BERGLUND -- Seeking information about the circumstances of Gosta B. Berglund, an Olympia resident believed to have been killed in a mill accident sometime between 1910 and 1912. He is listed in the 1910 census. His wife and children then move to Seattle, where she describes herself as a widow in the city directory of 1911-12. The peculiar thing is that a family story is that his death was a result of a mill accident. However, there is no death record for him, none at all in Washington, - and he worked as bookkeeper and salesman, but apparently never as a mill worker. It would be good to know what became of him.

SANDERS/DRAKE -- I am researching the SANDERS surname in Thurston Co. Hattie Sanders lived around Olympia and Westport in the late 1880-1900's. She is buried in Mabton, WA, but apparently there is no headstone with any dates. The dates I have are not confirmed but fairly firm through family lore. Hattie (SMITH/DRAKE) SANDERS b 11 Aug 1853, d 18 Nov 1934. I would like to obtain a marriage certificate copy if possible, with her SANDERS husband, whose name I am not certain of. It could be Edgar, Edson, or Edwin. She was previously married and widowed by Charles E. DRAKE, in Michigan. I am not certain when she arrived in Washington State. I do know she and Mr. Sanders had at least one child together, Grace Sanders.

McCLELLAN -- Looking for information on Milton Oliver MCCLELLAN, b 1 Mar 1881/1885 in Troy, Doniphan Co, KS, m 24 Dec 1913 to Martha Sarah POLLMAN. One child was reportedly born of this marriage, after which Milton abandoned Martha. She subsequently married a man by the name of BURLINGAME with whom she had another child. There is no further online information for Milton that I can find. His parents: William Henry MCCLELLAN and Martha Jane (CURTIS) MCCLELLAN.

Milton Oliver MCCLELLAN was the sixth child and his mother may have died at his birth or soon after. I have been unable to find any vital records for this family in KS. After the death of Martha, the family moved to OR. Mary (Mollie) Isabelle MCCLELLAN married a man named Dodge and moved to the San Diego, CA area. Milton is listed in the 1910 Federal census as living in Tenino, WA in a boarding house. He may have been a bartender. The rest of the family stayed in or near the Oregon City, OR area.

In the Oregon City newspapers carrying the obituary for William Henry MCCLELLAN in 1924 there is no mention of Milton. His four sisters are mentioned as is a brother, whose name is given in one account as Norman and in another as simply N.C. Both obits mention this man as having disappeared in WW I, presumeably in the fighting. One says he enlisted in Farr, CO. Although not on current maps, there was a Farr, CO in Weld County at the time of WW I. I have been unable to find any enlistment cards or records for a Norman or N.C. MCCLELLAN.

I am wondering if Milton changed his name and enlisted to run away from his marriage. Or if possibly he only claimed to have done so. No one now living remembers him or any mention of a brother named Norman or N.C. even though I have relatives who remember all the MCCLELLAN sisters as well as William Henry, their father. Any help appreciated.

I would like to confirm her place of birth--either Ohio or Pennsylvania. Joseph Green and his family moved from Pennsylvania to Minnesota about 1888. I would also like to connect with any descendants to compare information on Joseph Green (Alta's father) who immigrated from Italy as a child. SHARP--I am trying to find out some information regarding my grandfather. His name was Isabelle Samuel Sharp and he lived in Little Rock Washington. He was married to Ruth and they had 5 kids. My dad's name is Jesse Sharp and he still has one sister living in Centralia. Her name is Clella Westfall. Neither one of them can tell me anything about their dad. He died September 1952 and is buried in the Oddfellow Cemetery in Tumwater. I was hoping to find an obituary article that might tell me at least were he was born and some of his family name. I have spent a lot of time researching, but my difficulties are his first name seems to always just pop up things regarding women and the last name of Sharp is very common.

SIMONTON, SHOWEN--I am looking for information on my father's aunt, Iris Irene (Simonton) Showen, who died in Thurston County, WA on 29 Oct 1965. My dad says he remembers taking a trip to visit her in Olympia in 1964, which was the only time in his life he had met her. Aunt Iris had 3 children - Albert (b. 7 Mar 1921), Edna (b. 8 Jul 1919), and Micki (b. ca. 1922). I know nothing about Albert's existence, except that he definitely lived to adulthood. Edna was married to Dale Lance, and the SSDI says they both died in Olympia in 2001. I don't know if they had any children. Micki was married to Frank Larson, and I know they had at least one child. I once saw a picture of Aunt Iris with Micki and a baby, and the picture was dated 1961. Much of the information I have on them is what Irises brother, Jim, gave me in 1997. Uncle Jim didn't know Aunt Iris very well, because she was 22 and married when he was born. I don't know any of these people, or if they're even still living. My father and I are both only children, and are very interested in connecting with our cousins. Any help or tidbits of information are greatly appreciated.

Three daughters: Bessie (don't know where she was born), Allie (born in Goldendale Feb 24, 1888 - can't find birth record) and Maud Lola (cant find birth record). Bessie died very young and is buried in Hood River, Or. Allie died April 6, 1962 Reno, Nevada. Maud Lola (Kelly) died September 1904 Wadsworth, Nevada. My mother Lola was the daughter of Maud Lola who died at my mother's birth. Maud Lola was 20 years old when she died. Maud Lola was married to a Loring Kelly.
