A coroner's inquest and autopsy was held over the remains of Mrs. Lettie Powers, who
died the day before under suspicious circumstances. A.W. Frater was present to
represent the prosecuting attorney's office, and Dr. Stafford of Snohomish, made the
examination. Although the jury failed to agree and hence rendered no verdict, the
testimony of the physicians and the other evidence introduced showed that death
resulted from an abortion. Four of the jurymen were of this opinion. The coroner's
verdict is to this effect.
