- HARTZEL
- My great-grandfather, Zachery Taylor Hartzel, is on 1870 census of
Lehigh co.
PA with parents, George and Sophy. ALso in household there are 2 females, apparently
sisters, Susannah and Ellen and a brother, Walter Hartzel, born abt 1855 in PA.
Also in this household was a George Mansfield, age 4, relationship unknown to me. After
marriage Zachery and
family went from PA to Kansas City to St Louis MO - to Madison co. IL and
finally to Jackson Co IL. Tradition is they lost contact with all of
Zachery's family except one brother and that "Walter went to Washington". During
1950s a grandson of Zachery met briefly another Hartzel from Washington in a
military medical clinic but due to circumstances was unable to spend time to
compare family info. Would like to contact anyone who knows anything about
Walter Hartzel who went to Washington - I would estimate sometime after
1875.
