Hellgate Panorama, Lincoln County, Washington
submitted by Raedine Delp
HELLGATE is on the Columbia River, 40 miles northwest of Davenport and 12 miles north of Wilbur. When this photo
was taken it was natural that the water rushed through this rock gorge. It is now covered by the back waters of Grand
Coulee Dam creating the Franklin D. Roosevelt Lake. In the Spring time the water level in the lake is reduced to allow
for spring snowmelt runoff and some of the rock formations can be seen again.
