Wagner, Ernest C.; ( b. Oct 15, 1902, d. Dec 24, 1973)  24/1    24/1

“Ernest Carl Wagner was born Oct 15, 1902, at the Wagner family farm home south of Wilbur. His childhood and youth were spent on the farm and he received his public school education at the Fairview School near his home.  Ernest’s wife was Ethel Elaine Partridge and they were united in marriage at Davenport on Nov 26, 1924. Ernest and his wife moved to the north edge of Wilbur in 1953 in order to be able to provide care for his elderly father; but Ernest continued to farm the home place until he was forced to retire due to reasons of health in 1965. Since that time he had been able to do very little physical work. He had a keen interest in the farm industry in which he devoted all his working days. Ernest was first hospitalized for surgery in 1965, and about four weeks ago he entered a Spokane hospital for his eighth surgery. After a week of recuperation, he was transferred to the Southcrest Convalescent Center in Spokane. He seemed to be making progress toward recovery until Christmas Eve when he suddenly began to fail and was called to his final rest at about 9:15 p.m. that evening. Ernest was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mary Wagner. He is survived by his wife Ethel at home; by two sons, John and Robert of Wilbur; by one daughter, Clara M Kirkwood of Moses Lake; by ten grandchildren; by two brothers, Floyd Wagner of Kerrville, Texas, and Clarence of Wilbur; by six sisters, Merle Toskey and Edith Robarge of Seattle; Bessie Bumgarner of Colfax, Ellen Artley of Wenatchee, Dorothy Mager of Wilbur, and Ethel Erickson of Genesee, Idaho; and by other relatives and friends. Ernest will be remembered as a beloved husband and father and brother, a person whose life centered in the home, the family and his life’s work. He was particularly fond of his grandchildren. Funeral services and burial were held Dec 29.” (Wilbur Register: 1-10-1974)
