Johnson, Dorothea E.; ( b. Sep 25, 1912, d. Apr 28, 2002)  157/?  

“Long-time Wilbur resident Dorothea E. Johnson, passed away April 28, 2002, in Davenport, where she was a resident of the Lincoln Nursing Home. She was 90. Funeral services were held Friday, May 3, at the Wilbur Lutheran Church with Pastor Mary Daniels officiating. Concluding services and vault interment followed at the Wilbur Cemetery. Services were directed by Strate Funeral Home of Wilbur.  Dorothea was born in Wilbur on April 25, 1912 to Aage and Mary Elizabeth (Oswalt) Jurgensen. She was a graduate of Wilbur High School and married Raymond Johnson.  She was a member of Wilbur Lutheran Church, Wilbur Grange, and Wilbur Cemetery Board, and she was a long-time 4-H leader.  She is survived by four grandchildren, Kevin Johnson of Wilbur, Jana Schillinger of Las Vegas, NV, Stephanie Davis of Reardan, and Tori Durand of Moxee, WA; 10 great grandchildren, Drew Johnson, Holly Schillinger, Lacy Schillinger, Kent Davis, Raylene Davis, Alex Durand, Haley Durand, Alan Shaner, Ashley Shaner, and Anthony Glover. In addition, she is survived by twin brothers, Ronald and Donald Jurgensen, both of Wilbur; and two sisters, Loma Seavey of Tacoma and Florence Hansen of Wilbur. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Johnson; one son and daughter-in-law, Kent and Donna Johnson; one brother, George Jurgensen; and special friend, Bob Rawe.” (Wilbur Register: 5-09-2002)

“Edna Ora Johnson.—Her home, Creston, WA, for the last 34 years. Member of the Royal Neighbors. Survived by her husband, Ben H. Johnson, at the home; 2 sons, Glen H. Johnson, Nordman, Idaho; and Donald V. Johnson, Creston, WA; one brother, Wilmont D. Buswell, Spokane, WA; 2 sisters, Mrs. Montana Rolands, Hawaii; and Mrs. Lois Iverson, Spokane; 3 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Sunday, Oct 6, at 3 p.m. form the Creston Christian Church, the Rev James Farrell officiating. Interment at the Wilbur, WA, Cemetery. (Edna O) Johnson on Sunday, Oct 6, at 3 p.m. at the Creston Christian Church with the Rev James Farrell officiating. Mrs. Anecia Hatten played organ music and interment was in the Wilbur Cemetery with the Robertson Funeral Home, Wilbur, in charge of arrangements.  Pall bearers were two of the deceased’s grandsons, Terry Johnson of Missoula , Montana and Donald Johnson of Spokane ; a grandson-in-law, Eddie Nelson of Colfax, and friends, Francis Legault of Spokane, Robert Williamson of Wilbur and Phillip Gardner, Creston. Edna O. Johnson passed away on Thursday, Oct 3, 1974, at the Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Davenport following a short illness. She was born on July 18, 1893, in Plainview, Nebraska, and moved with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Will Austin Buswell and sisters to Iowa for a short period of time. When Edna was four years of age, the family traveled alone by covered wagon to Deer Lodge, Montana , through Indian territory when the Indians were on the warpath. Others who had planned a wagon train west with the Buswell family changed their minds and so the family braved the trek alone. Edna was one of six children born to Mr. and Mrs. Buswell. She was married to Ben H. Johnson on Dec 17, 1913, in Spokane, and they made their first home in Ione where they lived for 27 years before moving to Creston in 1940. They celebrated their Golden Anniversary in 1963 and their 60th wedding anniversary in 1973 at an open house reception in Spokane. Mrs. Johnson was a fifty year member of the Royal Neighbors, a member of the Episcopal Church and a former member of the Creston Civic Club. She was a devoted wife and mother and friend to all who knew her, always cheerful with a smile, and enjoyed her flower and vegetable gardens. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends, especially close neighbors. She is survived by her husband, Ben H Johnson, and son, Donald V Johnson, at the home; another son, Glen H. Johnson of Priest Lake, Idaho a brother, Wilmont D. Buswell, Spokane ; two sisters, Mrs. Montana Rowlands of Hawaii and Mrs. Lois Iverson, Spokane . Also by four grandchildren, including Terry Johnson of Montana , Donald Johnson of Spokane and Mrs. Eddie (Susie) Nelson, Colfax; ten great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. One son, Harvey M. Johnson, preceded her in death in 1956. Following the interment, relatives and friends gathered at the Johnson home for a pot luck dinner. Long time friends from Ione present were Mrs. Arlene Middleton, Mr. and Mrs. John Middleton, Mrs. Bob Davis and Conrad Pierson.” (Wilbur Register:  10-10-1974)

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb 17, 11 a.m. from the Wilbur Lutheran Church, the Rev F. .J Ahrendt officiating. Interment, Wilbur, WA, Cemetery. Johnson, Laura B.;   ( b. 1886, d. 1975) 32/7

“Funeral services for Laura B. Johnson, daughter of the late Dr Lafayette and Matilda Lewis of Wilbur, were held Wednesday afternoon in the Wilbur Cemetery with Dr Malcolm McCallum officiating. Mrs. Johnson died in a Spokane nursing home May 25. She had celebrated her 89th birthday on May 6. At the age of 55 Mrs. Johnson received her Licensed Practical Nurse license and retired from this profession at the age of 75. She is survived by a daughter, 7 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The Robertson Funeral Home in Wilbur was in charge of services.” (Wilbur Register: 5-29-1975)

“Leonard W. (Whitey) Johnson.—A lifetime resident of Wilbur,WA. A member of the Lutheran Church; the Eagles Lodge & the Moose Lodge, both Grand Coulee, WA. Survived by his wife, Margaret E .Johnson; 2 sons, Edward J. and James W. Johnson, all of Wilbur; one daughter, Miss Eileen M. Johnson, Spokane; one brother, Emmett Johnson, Whittier, CA; one sister, Mrs. Max (Lillian) Rettkowski, Wilbur; numerous nieces &  nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Aug 7 at 10:30 a.m. from the Wilbur Lutheran Church, Pastor A. F. Gerstmann officiating. Interment Wilbur, WA , Cemetery. Johnson, LeRoy; ( b. Jun  20, 1901, d.  Aug 5, 1974)  30/6  

“LeRoy Johnson died Monday at his ranch home north of Wilbur. He was 73 years of age.  Services will be held in the Wilbur Ltheran Church tomorrow, Friday, at 10 a.m. with Pastor A. F. Gerstmann officiating. Burial will be in the Wilbur Cemetery. The Robertson Funeral Home of Wilbur is in charge of arrangements.” (Wilbur Register: 8-08-1974) “LeRoy Melvin Johnson was born June 20, 1901 on the farm six miles north of Wilbur on the Keller highway where he resided until his death on August 5. He was the son of Marie and John Johnson and he attended the Larrick and Wilbur schools. LeRoy was a member of the Wilbur Lutheran Church, a charter member of the board of directors of the REA in Davenport, a member of the Wilbur Grange and a past director of Graingrowers Warehouse Company.  He married Myrtle Wassum on Oct 17, 1938, in Olympia and they were engaged in farming until their retirement in 1964. LeRoy did not know a stranger, had a pleasant disposition and a contagious laugh. Young people sought his company. Survivors include his wife, Myrtle L, at the home; a twin brother, Raymond Johnson of Wilbur; a brother, Howard Johnson of Seattle , and one sister, Mrs. Ruth Halverson of Spokane; many other relatives and friends.  Funeral services were held Friday, Aug 9, at 10 a.m. from the Wilbur Lutheran Church, the Rev Albert Gerstmann officiating. Interment was in the Wilbur Cemetery. Robertson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.  Pall bearers were Eddie and Jim Johnson, Caryll and Robert Bahr and Craig and Gale Rettkowski. Friends attending from out of town were from Seattle, Spokane, Newman Lake, Almira, Creston, Davenport, Waterville, Grand Coulee, Mansfield , Prescott, Edwall, Chewelah, Pasco and Dishman.” (Wilbur Register: 8-15-1974)*

“Aage Jurgensen.—A resident of Wilbur, WA. A member of the Wilbur Lutheran Church. Survived by 3 sons, George H. Jurgensen, Coulee Dam, WA; Donald Jurgensen, Seattle, WA; and Ronald Jurgensen, Wilbur; 3 daughters, Mrs. Raymond (Dorothea) Johnson; Mrs. Carl (Florence) Hansen, both of Wilbur and Mrs. Milton (Loma) Seavey, Tacoma, WA; 18 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services Thursday, Jan 18 at 11 a.m. from the Wilbur Lutheran Church, Pastor William Bash officiating. Interment Wilbur, WA, Cemetery. Jurgensen, Holgar; ( b. Nov 5, 1866, d. Apr 26, 1945) 2/5 

“Holgar Jurgensen, 78, Wilbur, died Saturday night. He was a native of Denmark who came to this country in 1875, and came with his parents to Wilbur in 1884. He had served as president of the Washington-Idaho Farmers’ Union and had represented farmers at national meetings in Washington, DC, and at Denver. He was for many years president of the North Big Bend Pioneers’ association. He is survived by his widow and their three children, an adopted son, and two brothers.” (Odessa Record: 5-03-1945)  “Museum Pieces Given State College Agent.  C. R. Armstrong of Washington State College visited Wilbur this week and took with him 600 magazines, dating back to 1893. He also took a chair made by a pioneer woman, a neck yoke used for carrying water, all articles from the collection of pioneer relics at Holgar Jurgensen’s home. They will be placed in the college museum.” (Odessa Record: 6-15-1939)
