Zeimantz, Lois Knack; (Nov 25, 1927-July 2, 1998); “Lois
Zeimantz passed away on July 2, 1998 in Davenport after a two year battle with
cancer. She was 70. Funeral
services will be held today at 10 a.m. at Strate Funeral Home in Davenport.
Interment will follow at the Mondovi Cemetery. Lois was born at home in Rocklyn
on Nov 25, 1927 to Elmer Knack and Elizabeth Bakenhus Knack. She married Ted G.
Zeimantz on Nov 30, 1946, in Davenport. In 1951, they moved to the Mondovi area,
where they farmed and raised their family. They continued to live on the farm
until her death, and in recent years they enjoyed winters in Yuma, AZ, as well.
In addition to her roles as a devoted wife, mother and homemaker, Mrs.
Zeimantz worked for many years as a stenographer and bookkeeper for the Lincoln
County Road Dept. She was a member
of the Mondovi Grange and the Mondovi Homemakers, and was a lifetime member of
the Davenport-Edwall United Methodist Church, Mary Circle and United Methodist
Women’s Society. Lois will be
remember ed and forever missed by her many friends and her family, all of whom
will treasure their memories of her as a loving and caring friend, wife mother
and faithful member of her church. She
is survived by her husband, Ted G. Zeimantz; three children, John R. Zeimantz of
Spokane, Janet L. McGuire of Veradale and Marla J. Terry of Cheney; two sisters,
Irene Young of Spokane and Wilma Fouke of San Francisco; and a brother, Wallace
Knack of Phoenix, AZ. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, and numerous

Mondovi, was Monday, May 6, at the Strate Funeral Home Chapel in Davenport, with
vault interment following at Mondovi Cemetery.
Mr. Zeimantz died May 1 in Spokane. Born Jan 7, 1927, in Spokane, he was a
graduate of Davenport High School. He served in the US Merchant Marines as a
radio signal operator, then attended Eastern Washington University, from which
he graduated with degrees in education and business administration. He farmed in
the Mondovi area from 1950 until
his retirement in 1992. He married
Lois Knack in 1946. The couple traveled extensively after his retirement and
wintered in Yuma, AZ, before her death in 1998. He married his second wife,
Joan, in 2000. He belonged to the
Davenport-Edwall United Methodist Church, the Mondovi Grange and was a former
member of the board of Lincoln Electric Co-op and the Davenport School Board.
Besides his wife at the home, he leaves three children, John Zeimantz, of
Spokane; Janet McGuire of Veradale; and Maria Terry of Cheney; nine
grandchildren: Brien, Katie and Evan McGuire; John and Peter Berg; Rex terry,
and Jacob, Joseph and Anna Zeimantz; two brothers, Wayne LaBou of Seattle and
Steve Priest of Spokane; and numerous nieces and nephews.” (Davenport Times:

Davenport. He also farmed briefly in Cutbank, MT. In 1923 he married Helen Irene LaBou; she died in 1955. Surviving are three sons, Ted, Davenport;
Steve, Spokane; and Wayne, Seattle. Eight grandchildren and four great
grandchildren also survive as do four sisters—Sophie Phillips, Davenport;
Minnie Foulk, Kokomo, IN; Lena Dean and Margaret Hurst, both Spokane.”
