“Hans C Hansen. (Smith Funeral Home). Sunnyside.—Hans C Hansen, 87, of Mabton-Sunnyside area, died Tuesday in a Grandview nursing home. Mr Hansen was born at Neenah, WI, and moved to Tyler, MN, with his family as a young boy. At the age of 19 he came west to the Big Bend country. He and Miss Vannie Bunting were married in 1914 at Waterville and they moved to St Andrews where he was a mail carrier until moving to Hartline in 1924 where he farmed. “Fred C Helmke, son of Christian Helmke. He and his siblings were born in Retzlinger, Germany in the Black Forrest area. They immigrated from Germany to the state of Illinois, then to Jackson Co, MN. In the fall of 1901,the family traveled west on an immigrant train and settled in the Big Bend Country. Fredrick Christian Helmke married Sophia A Peterson of Esterville, Iowa, on Oct 5, 1892.
