A member of the United Methodist Church, where she was active in teaching, the Women’s Society, served as Sunday school superintendent, a graduate of Whitworth College. Survived by her husband, Edward Edwards, at the home; one son, Richard L Edwards, Wilbur, WA; one granddaughter, Yvonne Edwards, WSU; three grandsons, William Edwards, US Air Force; Michael Edwards, Hartline, WA; John Edwards, Wilbur, WA; four brothers, Leslie B Graham, Poulsbo, WA; George A and Clarence S Graham, both of Spokane; Chester W Graham, Mineral Wells, Texas; one sister, Ruby Phillipy, Spokane Valley; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services Friday, March 12, at 10 a.m. from the Spokane Valley United Methodist Church, E10422 Main Ave in the Spokane Valley. Rev Eugene W Muench officiating. “Arthur M (Uncle Art) Elliot, 78, died at Wilbur Saturday night. He went from Iowa to Hartline about 50 years ago, bought a section of school land there in 1899. His estate grew to 800 acres of wheat land, which he farmed until stricken. His wife died 42 years ago, leaving him with the responsibility of rearing six small children, which he did without outside help, giving them good educations. His funeral was Wednesday at Hartline, the Masons officiating.” (Odessa Record: 1-28-1937)
