Reinbold, Simon, b. March 20, 1860, d. 1933 Dec 30?

"Simon Reinbold Dies Here Sunday; Funeral Services Held on Wednesday; Was Pioneer of Egypt.

Simon Reindold, age 74 yrs, a resident of this community for more than 50 years, died at his home in Davenport about 5 p.m. Sunday.  He had been in poor health during recent years and was almost helpless for some months.   Mr. Reinbold was born March 10, 1860 in Baden, Germany.  He came to the United States in June, 1880, in company with his brother, Andrew.  Landing in New York, they proce3eded to Chicago, Ill., where they were employed for a time on a farm, and then they moved to Minneapolis, Minn.  In the spring of 1883, they came to Missoula, Mont., and in July 1883, Mr. Reinbold came to the Egypt country north of Davenport.   Mr. Reinbold was married December 21, 1883, to Katherine E. Hass, also a native of Baden.  They had been neighbors and friends in Germany, and attended the same school there, although  not at the same time.  They were married in Minneapolis, and came west together in 1883, going part of the way on the uncompleted North Pacific railway, traveling the 300 mile gap between railheads by stage and then coming into Missoula, Mont., by train.   They homesteaded in the Egypt country after their arrival in that community.  In close financial circumstances in the pioneers days, Mr. Reinbold was forced to haul freight from Sprague and Spokane, and underwent all of the usual hardships of pioneer life.  He finally acquired nearly 1000 acres of fine wheat and pasture land before retiring from farming.   Mr. and Mrs. Reinbold moved to Davenport in 1916 and lived here since that time.  Mr. Reinbold was vice president and a heavy stockholder in the now defunct Lincoln County State bank for many years.  and took and active part in its management until his retirement from the vice president in 1928.   Although Mr. and Mrs. Reinbold had no children of their own, they reared four young people, Anna Reinbold, now Mrs. Chris Reinbold of Egypt, Dan F. Reinbold, Egypt farmer, whom they brought over from Germany when he was 12 years old, Gertrude Knappert, now Mrs. O. D. Ford of San Antonia, Texas, and Alice Reinbold, now Mrs. Lewis Boleneus of Davenport.  Mr. Reinbold is survived by his widow, Mrs. Katherine Reinbold and two brothers, Jacob and William Reinbold, prominent Egypt country farmers.   Funeral services for Mr. Reinbold were held at the Davenport Lutheran church at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, and at the Egypt Lutheran church at 2 p.m. yesterday, with the Rev. F. J. Ahrendt officiating.  Interment was in the Egypt Lutheran cemetery.  Pall bearers were Fred Fischer and George Sillman of Spokane, John Boleneu, Henry Boleneu, Herman Wilke and H. A. Moore of Davenport." (The Lincoln County Times-Tribune, Thursday, January 3, 1934) RG

Schulz, J. F., Oct 23, 1913

Mr. J. F. Schulz, who has been suffering with a cancer of the stomach, passed away last Thursday morning. Mr. Schulz was a native of Berlin, Germany, lived in NE for many years, then came to Egypt where he has resided for the past six years. Mr. Schulz has been a faithful church worker and a good neighbor. He is survived by a wife, 6 sons and one daughter. The remains were laid to rest in the German Lutheran Cemetery. The funeral services were conducted by Rev C. Hopf. Mr. Frank and Arnold Schulz from NE attended the funeral of their father. Also Mr. & Mrs. Louis Schulz from Nespelem. (LCT)
