Robinson surname:  “Several locals attended the Robinson Family Reunion at Memorial Hall in Davenport Sunday, July 1, 1984. Reunion attendants, descendents of James E and Caroline (Mechlenberg) Robinson, pioneers of the area, were hosted by the Ernest Robinson family. The pioneering Robinsons farmed the Bluestem area in late 1800 through the early 1900s. Each of the Robinson’s nine children, all born on the ranch, held homesteads in the region. The nine children include John (who died early in infancy), Chester (who died in his pre-teens), Ellen (Robinson) Holderby, Ernest, Maybelle (Robinson) King Keiser, Dewey, Lillie (Robinson) Teel and Everett and Verna Robinson Welch. Of these, Lillie and Verna survive.  Lincoln Nursing Home Resident Elsie Timm Robinson headed the reunion. Each year, one of the pioneering Robinson’s children or grandchildren host the reunion. This year’s family members helping with the event include Elsie Timm Robinson’s oldest daughter, Delecia (Robinson) Hargrave and her husband Art, of Port Orchard. Also helping: their son and family, Kent and Vivian Hargrave, Brad, Greg and Jeni of Tumwater; her second daughter, Theda, and Vern Mayer of Sunnyside and their children: Kirk Mayer of Wenatchee, Jay Mayer of Seattle, Mark and Stephanie Mayer, Brian and Jeffery Mayer of Walla Walla; Karen Micolo Michael, Brian and Paul of Spokane. Additional helpers include the youngest daughter, Jackie, and her husband, Tom Kiethly, and their son Greg of Spokane. Also attending were Davenport residents Martha Robinson, wife of Dewey Robinson; Lillie (Robinson) Teel and family members, Jim and Bea Teel, Bryan, Bonnie and Mike Hardy, and Barbara Teel. Mrs Caroline Robinson Dies in Spokane Hospital—Funeral Here Friday. funeral services will be held at the Presbyterian church here at 2 p. m. Friday for Mrs Caroline Robinson, age 76, a resident of this community for 55 years, who passed away Tuesday about 5 p.m. at the Deaconess hospital in Spokane. The Rev Lee E Knoll will officiate at the service which will be in charge of the Bumgarner Funeral home. Interment will e in the Robinson family plot in Mountain View Cemetery. Mrs Robinson had not been in the best of health for about six months, but was able to be around most of the time until stricken seriously ill Monday. She was taken to the hospital by C W Bumgarner in his ambulance Tuesday morning, and passed away that afternoon. Native of Germany. Mrs Robinson was born in Germany Jan 11, 1864, and came to Minnesota while a girl with her parents, Mr and Mrs Ferdinand Mecklenburg, and later came to Medical Lake with them. She was married to James E Robinson, Davenport pioneer, on May 3, 1889. He had come to the Davenport country in the fall of 1882. They resided on a farm in the Bluestem community until 1916 when they retired and moved to Davenport. Mr Robinson passed away in 1834. She is survived by four daughters, Mrs Vernon Holderby, Davenport; Mrs Ervin E King, Pullman, Mrs Chester Teel, Davenport, and Mrs A Wilfred Welch, Eugene, Ore., three sons, Ernest Robinson, Oroville, WA, Dewey Robinson, Davenport, and Everett Robinson, Pullman, 16 grandchildren, one great grandson, two brothers, Max Mecklenburg of Creston and Arthur B Mecklenburg of Veradale, and two sisters, Mrs Louise Devenish, Spokane, and Mrs Augusta Morgan, Marysville, Wash." Robinson, Dewey G:  (1899-1983); d. 11-20-1983; s/o James and Caroline; h/o Martha;  (Edit: “An interlocutory divorce decree was granted Dewey G Robinson, Davenport farmer, Monday, from Georgia M Robinson, whom he married in 1942. A property settlement was made.” Odessa Record: 3-02-1944);  “Dewey George Robinson. Died: 11-20-1983, Davenport, WA.  Spouse: Martha H Wilson. Father: James Easton Robinson. Mother: Carolyn M Mecklenburg. Burial: Mountain View Cemetery, Davenport, WA.” (Lincoln County Health death card);  “Funeral services for Dewey Robinson of Davenport will be held (today) Wednesday, at the Strate Funeral Home at 11 a.m. He passed away Sunday night at Lincoln Hospital.  Robinson was born April 19, 1899, in Bluestem to James E Robinson and the former Carolyn Mecklenburg. He attended local schools, lived his entire life and famed in this area.  On Aug 31, 1944, he married his wife, Martha, at the Presbyterian Church manse.  He is survived by his wife; his son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Gerry Rambo; sisters, Lillie Teel of Davenport, and Verna Welch of Walla Walla; granddaughters, Mary Kay and Shelly Rambo of Davenport; and numerous nieces and nephews.  The service will be officiated by Rev Jeff Callender of the Presbyterian Church, with Dixie Guhlke as soloist and Sarah Jane Johnson, organist. Pall bearers include Ermit Holderby, Jeff Holderby, Steve Holderby, John Hattemer, Dick Teel and Jim Teel. Honorary pall bearers are Bill Deacon, Carl Guhlke, Jim Holderby, Howard Jantz, Walt Kruger, Henry Robinson, Gene Stuckle, Lee Swain, and Cecil Woodworth. Robinson, Elizabeth: (d. 8-23-1894);   “Mrs Wm Robinson died at her home southwest of town last Thursday evening of cancer of the stomach from which she has been a sufferer for some time, and the following day was buried in the Davenport Cemetery. Mrs Robinson was a lady who was held in high esteem by all who knew her, and her death will be sincerely mourned by a great many friends. Her remains were followed to their last resting place by the entire community in which she lived, a large number from town also being in attendance. The bereaved husband and family have the sincerest sympathy in the sad loss that has befallen them.” (LCT: 8-31-1894) “Lizzie Robinson. Probate File #262.  Estate. Died: 23 August 1894 in Lincoln County, residing in the Earl district. Verbal Will.  (Ages assumed to be as of 1903 filing). Spouse: W L Robinson, 48, executor. Robinson, George L:  (1917-1998);  “A resident of the Davenport area for many years, George L Robinson died April 6, 1998 in Chowchilla, CA. He was 81.  Funeral service was held Monday at the chapel of Strate Funeral Home in Davenport, with the Rev Martha Montovani as officiant. Interment was at Mountain View Cemetery. Born March 27, 1917, in Raymond, MT, to Clarence and Bessie May (Johnston) Robinson, he graduated from high school in Plentywood, MT, in 1936. He married Hazel Oligher on April 4, 1956, in Creston, and the two made their home out near Telford, where George raised cattle.  Mr Robinson was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Davenport, Acacia Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and El Katif Shrine. He was past president and secretary of the Lincoln County Cattlemen’s Association, and a  41 year member of the Wilson Grange.  Survivors include his wife, Hazel, at the home in Davenport; one son and his wife, Blake and Pat Hall of Davenport; one granddaughter and her husband, Kathy and Gary Schulz of Tulare, CA; two great grandchildren, Stephanie and Justin Schulz, and two step-great grandchildren, Geoff and Kevin Schulz, all of Tulare, CA; one brother, Darrel Robinson of Coeur d’Alene, ID; one sister, Delores Clayburn of Loon Lake; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr Robinson was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Leona, in 1915.” (Davenport Times:  4-16-1998) 

 

Robinson, Henry:  (1900-1987); h/o Trixie; h/o Loraine; “Funeral memorial services were held Tuesday at Strate Funeral Home for Henry Robinson, of Davenport. He was 87.  Robinson was born April 18, 1900, in Lewistown, Montana, and grew up in Edwall. He graduated from Edwall High School and Kinman College in Spokane. Over the years he worked as the bookkeeper for Hernas Chevrolet, then in different offices in the Lincoln County courthouse, and later retired as Lincoln County Assessor several years ago.  He passed away July 19, 1987 in Davenport. He was a member of Davenport Presbyterian Church for 44 years, where he served as an elder from 1955 to 1960 and 1979 to 1981, as well as Church Treasurer during the 1950s. He is survived by his wife, Loraine, son Jerry, of Omak; daughter, Norma McDowell of Davenport; three grandchildren, Annette Shipman of Billings, MT; Mike McDowell of Davenport; and Bill McDowell, Jr, of Davenport; as well as three great grandchildren.  Services were officiated by Rev Jeff Callender, of Davenport Presbyterian Church, with Sarah Jane Johnson, organist and Dixie Guhlke, soloist. Pall bearers included Gary Moats, Joe Darling, Wayne Badgley, Bob Hutsell, Dusty Moats, and Vern Sautter. Robinson, James Easton: (1857-1924);  “J E Robinson. Died: Sept 18, 1924.” (Davenport Presbyterian Ledger); “Order of final discharge of G Dewey Robinson, as executor of the estate of James E Robinson has been signed.” (Odessa Record: 11-13-195)  "James E Robinson Died Thursday. Funeral Services Held Saturday Afternoon—Was Pioneer. James Easton Robinson, age 67, died at his home in Davenport Thursday about 6 p.m., after several months' illness. He was stricken with paralysis about two months ago, and had been steadily sinking up to the time of his death. The funeral was held at the Presbyterian church Saturday afternoon, the Rev W L Killian officiating. A short service was held at the Robinson home before the church service. Special music was furnished at the church services by Mesdames L A Cathcart, Carl Horn, W L Killian, R D Whitney and Messrs E H Paige and C W Richards. The body was buried in Mountain View Cemetery. The pall bearers were John Paul, George Thomas, R R Stewart, R R Cathcart, Henry Chilton and Frank Denson. Mr Robinson was born Jan 28, 1857, at Bloomington, Ind. He came west in the spring of 1882, taking up a homestead near Bluestem. He farmed there until about 10 years ago, when he retired and moved to Davenport with his family. He was married May 3, 1889, to Caroline Mecklenburg. During the early days in Lincoln County Mr Robinson worked on the Great Northern railroad, while it was under construction, earning enough to help with the living expenses during those trying days. He is survived by his widow, Mrs Caroline Robinson, four daughters, Mrs Vernon Holderby, Mrs Ervin King, Miss Lillian Robinson and Verna Robinson, all of Davenport, three sons, George Dewey Robinson, and Everett Robinson of Davenport, and Ernest Robinson of Oroville, as well as by two sisters, Miss Ellen Robinson of Davenport and Mrs Lizzie Hunter of Indiana." Robinson, Loraine E: (unconfirmed; see Spining for TS);  “Loraine E Robinson. Died: Aug 24, 1998. Birth: Aug 20, 1901, IL.  Spouse: Widowed, name not given.  Father:  Sam Moats. Mother: Lyda Pruvehre. Burial: Mt View Cemetery, Davenport, WA.” (Lincoln County Health death card);  “Graveside service for Davenport’s Loraine E Robinson will be held today at 2 p.m. at Mountain View Cemetery, with the Rev Martha Montovani officiating.  Mrs Robinson will lie-in-state from 10 a.m. to noon at Strate Funeral Home. Mrs Robinson, 87, passed away Monday in Davenport. Born Aug 20, 1901, to Sam and Lyda (Puvier) Moats in Illinois, she moved to Davenport with her family at a young age and attended school here. She married Frank Spining and the two traveled following his construction business. Her husband worked in Canada and Alaska on the construction of the Al-Can Highway. They later lived in Electric City, where Mr Spining worked on Grand Coulee Dam. They returned to Davenport in the mid-1950s. Mrs Robinson was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and Davenport’s First Presbyterian Church. Survivors include one sister, Margaret Bumgarner of Puyallup, WA; four grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Frank Spining and Henry Robinson; two sons, Bob and Tom Spining; one sister, Letty Hansen; and one brother, Howard Moats. Strate Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.” (Davenport Times:  8-27-1998)

 

Robinson, Trixie McNeal:  (1907-1978); w/o Henry;  “Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 12 for Mrs Henry (Trixie) Robinson at the Davenport Presbyterian Church under direction of the Strate Funeral Home with the Rev Roger V Muisiner officiating.  Mrs Robinson was born on March 22, 1907, in Almira, and died at the Lincoln Hospital on Monday, July 10, 1978.  She had come to Davenport as a child and had lived in Davenport her entire life.  She had been employed in the Lincoln County courthouse for a period of 30 years, until her retirement in 1969.  Since retirement, Mrs Robinson had been involved in the bi-weekly meetings of senior citizens in a leadership role. She was also a member of the local order of Rebekahs, serving for several terms as noble grand. She had also been a member of the Mondovi Grange, where she served as lecturer.  She was a member of the Davenport Presbyterian Church. She was one of two women elected to eldership in the local church in 1972; and was the first woman to be elected to such office in the 90-year history of the church.  She served as clerk of the Session for five years as well as serving on the Session’s Memorial Committee.  Survivors include her husband, Henry Robinson of Davenport; one son, Jerry Robinson of Omak, WA; one daughter, Mrs William McDowell of Davenport and three grandsons. Also surviving is one  brother, Dave McNeal of Twin Falls, Idaho.  Interment occurred at the Mt View Cemetery, Davenport.” (Davenport Times: 7-13-1978);  “Trixie Jennie Robinson.
