Denson, Thomas " Thomas Denson, the aged father of Frank Denson, passed away Wednesday evening at about 9:30, after a week's illness. He had been living at the home of his son for several years, and up to the time of his last illness had enjoyed apparent good health. He was over 80 year of age and was born in England, coming to this country when quite a young man. He came to this county about 16 yeas ago The funeral services will be held at St. Luke's church, Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock." (The Lincoln County Times, Aug 30, 1907) Submitted by Barbara Curtis
Emerson, Nellie: " Mrs. Nellie Emerson, age 38, died Tuesday morning at Bluestem, having been taken ill Friday. Mrs. Emerson and her husband came to Bluestem this spring from Ford, Wash., and have made their home in the town of Bluestem, while Mr. Emerson was employed on neighboring farms. The funeral was held from the undertaking parlors in this city yesterday afternoon. The body was buried in Mountain View cemetery.
Mrs. Emerson was born in Illinois, July 9, 1885. She is survived by her husband, Richard Emerson and three children, two daughters and one son, all of whom were here for the funeral. (Davenport Times-Tribune, Jul 19, 1923)Submitted by Barbara Curtis.
Hane, Gustaf: " Early Pioneer Passes Monday. One of Davenport's earliest pioneers, Gustaf A. Hane, age almost 88 years, died early Monday at his farm home northeast of town. He had been in poor health for some time. He was born in Halmstead, Sweden, December 1, 1851, and came to the Unite States in 1871 and to Cheney, Wash., in 1881. He homesteaded at Cottonwood Springs, which later became the city of Davenport, in 1882, and resided there until his death. In 1884 he married to Miss Ebba Georgil of Stockholm, Sweden. She died 28 years ago. He is survived by one daughter, Miss Ada Hane, and one son Oscar L. Hane, both at the farm near Davenport. Funeral services for Mr. Hane were held at the Lutheran church here Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. with the Bumgarner Funeral home in charge. The Rev. F. J. Ahrendt officiated, and music was furnished by a quartet, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Buck, Mrs. H. K. Furgeson and the Rev. Ahrendt, accompanied by Mrs. O. W. Johnson. Interment was in Mountain View cemetery. Hutchens, Elmer B (Barney), Dav. Times: Thurs. July 16, 1987
"Funeral services for Elmer B (Barney) Hutchens, were held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 13 at Strate Funeral Home with Pastor Stanley Williamsen officiating. Interment was at Mountain View Cemetery, Davenport. Hutchens was born Sept 9, 1910 at Flasher, ND and died in Davenport July 9, 1987. He attended school in Flasher, North Dakota and later graduated from college in Fargo, ND. After working for a while in Hope, ND, he joined the Navy serving from 1942 to 1945. He married LaVern Miller on Dec 9, 1943 and the couple made their home in Davenport. He worked here for the Washington Chief service station and then for Phillips 66 until retirement in 1974. The coupld raised their four sons here in Davenport. He is survived by his wife LaVern, at the home; and sons Charles Hutchens, Woodinville, WA; Dennis Hutchens, Seattle; Morlan Hutchens, Davenport. One son, Richard, preceded him in death. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Glen, Philip and Laura Hutchens; two sisters, Inez Rossow, Emmet, Idaho; Helen Rose, Mapleton, WA; and one brother, Charles W Hutchens, Astoria, OR; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jahn, Berhard " The funeral of Bernhard Jahn, a pioneer of Lincoln county, as held from the German Methodist church Sunday morning and was largely attended, interment was made in Mountain View cemetery. Deceased was born in Grosz, Soldkow, Germany, June 17, 1845. He served in the Prussian-Austrian was of 1866-1867 and also the Franco-Prussian war of 1870. Mr. Jahn was married June 20, 1877 to Henrietta Hahn. He left Germany for the United States and settled in Wisconsin in 1887, and came to Davenport in 1888 and has resided southwest of Davenport since. Deceased is survived by his wife and nine children who all reside_________ ,(Mrs.) C. Hansen, Mrs. A. B. Kendall, Roxie Leone "of Davenport died July 5, 1988 in this city. She was 82. Mrs Kendall was born Sept 26, 1905 near Addy, WA, to Edwin Nichols and his wife, Clara Clark. She was the second of seven children. At the age of two, her father died and when her mother remarried, the family moved to a farm west of Arden, between Colville and Addy. When she was older, she worked for the Colville Hospital, and later earned her nursing degree at Colfax Hospital in about 1925. She also later returned to work at the Colville Hospital. She later moved to Denver where she married Glen Kendall in 1927. They lived in Kiowa, Colorado until about 1934 when they and their young son moved to Spokane where Mrs. Kendall worked at Sacred Heart Hospital. In about 1942 they moved to Colville where she worked in the county hospital and took care of her parents. Around 1945, they moved to Walla Walla where she was manager of the Blue Mountain Nursing Home for more than 20 years. She retired in 1973 and moved to Davenport in April 1988. She was a member of Altrussa Club in Walla Walla and was active in painting classes at Wonder Goose Craft Shop, also in Walla Walla. Survivors include: three sisters, LaVerne Hutchens of Davenport; Bernice Iverson of Libby, MT; and Beatrice Fawell of Phoenix, AZ; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen, in 1943, and by her son and three grandchildren in 1964. Graveside services were held July 8 in the Mountain View Cemetery, Davenport. Rev Jeff Callender of the Davenport Presbyterian Church officiated. Pall bearers included Charles Hutchens, Dennis Hutchens, Morlan Hutchens, Randall Fawell, Phil Hutchens and Glen Hutchens. Memorials may be made to donar's choice of charity."

Kirchen, Augsta Holinsky: "Mrs. Augusta Holinsky Kirchan, age 64 years, a resident of Davenport for many years, died at her home in this city about 1 a.m. Wednesday, following an extended illness. The funeral will be held at the Luthern church here Saturday at 2 p.m. with the Baumgarner Funeral Home in charge and interment will be in the Davenport Lutheran cemetery. Mrs. Kichan was born April 21, 1875, in Germany, and came to the United States with her parents when she was 12 years old, settling in Michigan. She came to Davenport in the fall of 1896 to be with her sister, the late Mrs. Emma Riddle.
She married Louis F. Kirchan here January 4, later moving to Newport, and then to Wilbur, before returning to Davenport about 10 years ago. She is survived by her husband, four daughters, Mrs. Emily McCulloch, Fort Barrancas, Florida, Mrs. Helen K. Kruegrer, Davenport, Mrs. Agnes Seidel, Seattle, and Mrs. Della Moline, Carlyle, Mont, two sons, Howard R. Kichan of Kelogg, Idaho, and Eugene E. Kirchan of Logan, Utah, eight grandchildren, two sisters and a brother at Cleveland, Ohio, and a sister at Kina, Michigan. Krey, Julius: “Mr. Julius Krey died at his home in the south part of this city, on Friday, Feb 14, 1913, aged 64 years. The funeral occurred on Monday last from the German Lutheran church, Rev Hopf officiating, and interment in Mountain View Cemetery. He is survived by his widow.” (Davenport Tribune: 2-20-1913)
Lake, David N.: “Died, on Friday, Feb 14, 1913, at the hour of 12:30 p.m., at the home of his son, C. F., in this city, David N Lake, of heart failure, super induced by a complication of diseases from which he had been a sufferer for the past five years. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the late home of the deceased, Rev Wm Hoskins, pastor of the ME Church in this city, officiating. Interment in Mountain View Cemetery.” (Dav. Trib: 2-20-1913) “David N. Lake was born near Philadelphia, PA, Sept 3, 1838, and was therefore at the time of his death, 74 yrs 5 mos and 11 days old. When but a small boy his parents removed to Trumbull Co, Ohio, where he continued to reside until he became a young man, of the age when thoughts of self support impress themselves deeply upon the youthful mind, and he went west filled with ambition and hope, locating in the central part of the state of Wisconsin. It was here that he met Julia A. Williams, later marrying her. To this union were born four sons and two daughters: Charles F. and H. Fayette, both of Davenport, D. Clinton, of Milwaukee, WI; E. Linwood, of Spokane; Mrs. F. E. Millard, of Canby, MN; and Mrs. Edna Butler, of near Bakersfield, CA.... “Dav. Trib: 2-20-1913) “David N. Lake, 74, a native of PA, died at the home of his son, C. F. Lake, Friday morning. Mr. Lake was a cabinet maker until recent years and was a veteran of the Civil War, through which he served with the 8th MN. Of six surviving children, three of them, C.F. and H.F. Lake, of this city, and E. L. Lake of Spokane were in attendance at the funeral service at the home Sunday afternoon. Laughbon, Nathaniel Allen: “Nathaniel Allen Laughbon, age 70, a pioneer resident of the Davenport district, died at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane Tuesday evening. He underwent an operation more than a month ago, and was thought to be improving steadily. He had been walking about the hospital a short time before his death, which came as a great shock to his family. Funeral services for Mr. Laughbon were held at the Davenport Presbyterian Church this afternoon at 2 p.m., with Rev W. L. Killian officiating. Interment was in Mountain View Cemetery. Mr. Laughbon was born in Ohio, Jan 1, 1856. He was married to Miss Lydia Belsing in 1884, and came west with his wife in 1891, and settled on a ranch on the Spokane River, north of Davenport. He and his family developed this property until it is now recognized as one of the finest fruit ranches in Lincoln County. Mr. Laughbon is survived by his widow, Mrs. Lydia Laughbon, one daughter, Miss Alma Laughbon, of Davenport, six sons, Lawrence K., of Raymond, WA, and Roy B., Frank E., Marion A., Dewey and Wendell B. Laughbon, all of Davenport, and 3 grandchildren. He is also survived by 5 sisters, Mrs. George W. Weaks, Mrs. N. B. Palmer and Mrs. Joseph Parr, all of Spokane, Mrs. John Henry Belsing, Udell, KS, Mrs. Cole, Galio, Ohio, and Mrs. Walters, Crestline, OH, and two brothers, E. R. and C. L. Laughbon of Davenport.” (7-08-1926)
Lawrence, Ella V.: “The many friends of the family were shocked Thursday morning to learn of the death of Mrs. Ella V., wife of Mr. J. P. Lawrence, who has resided on his place four miles west of Davenport for the past nine years...The fact is that the illness of Mrs. Lawrence was not generally known... Yet the deceased had been ill some time prior to the fatal termination of her ailment. She first showed symptoms of sickness in August, but that illness was not of a nature to awaken any apprehension on the part of the family. Unfortunately, the affliction developed into pulmonary troubles, and in the latter part of September the patient was compelled to take her bed. She grew worse from day to day and despite every attention and the best of medical aid her malady rapidly developed into consumption and proved fatal. The funeral took place Saturday and the remains were followed to their last resting place by a large concourse of sorrowing friends. Mrs. Lawrence maiden name was Ella V. Earles, of this place. She was born in Southern Ohio, Dec 28, 1861, and was at the time of her death aged 36 years, 11 months and 26 days. She was married to J P Lawrence in Ohio and together they came to WA some ten years ago. They spent one season at Walla Walla and in 1889 moved upon the place near Davenport, where the family has since resided. She leaves a husband and four children, 3 girls and one boy, from four to ten years of age. Mrs. Lawrence was an earnest, devoted Christian lady and an active member of the ME Church....” (LCT: 12-02-1898) TS in Mt View.
Lemmons, Lizzie: “Mrs. Lizzie Lemmons, wife of ‘Poor Dick’ Lemmons, died at her home in this city last Saturday at 1:30 p.m., from the effects of an operation performed in Spokane last month. She was 43 years of age and came here from Denver, CO, with her husband about 7 years ago. Mrs. Lemmon was a hard working colored woman and was well known and respected in Davenport. The past two years she had been in poor health and last month underwent an operation in Spokane, returning home a week ago last Sunday. Her remains were laid to rest in Mountain View Cemetery Sunday afternoon.” (1-17-1907) “Lizzie Lemon, wife of Richard Lemon, died at her home in Davenport, Saturday from a severe hemorrhage.... She was born in Lawrence, KS. By hard work she and her husband three years ago built themselves a comfortable home and were prosperous until sickness and death laid their heavy hand upon them.” (DT: 1-17-1907)
Long, Bernadine: “Mrs. Charles Long, nee Bernadine Long of Bluestem, died July 3rd at 4:30 a.m. after a protracted illness in a Spokane hospital. She was buried at Davenport, Sunday, July 5th.” (Citizen: 7-10-1914)
Long, Ada Knighten: “It is only a few weeks since Mrs. Long was on our streets the picture of health. However, much happened since. The mother saw the remains of her darling boy laid in his last resting place; another babe has been born and the mother has departed to the great hereafter. Ada Knighten was married to Alfred W Long Feb 28, 1897, and they had been up to the time when death claimed the wife and mother, residents of their beautiful home near Mondovi. After the birth of the child, Mrs. Long did not recuperate her usual strength and she was taken to Spokane to a hospital for treatment. She died last Thursday and was buried here Saturday. A large number of friends and neighbors showed their last respect to her memory by their presence at the last sad rites....Davenport Tribune.” (Citizen: 12-07-1906) TS shows: birth as March 24, 1871 and date of death as Nov 22, 1906.
Long, Elizabeth: “Mrs. I. H. Long of Moscow, who has been in feeble health for a long time, passed away last Sunday, and was buried in the cemetery near town Monday, the funeral services being held in the Baptist church, the sermon being preached by Marion Long of Creston, who is a brother of Issac. The deceased was 71 years of age, and leaves an aged husband and four grown sons and daughters. Mr. and Mrs. Long were among the first settlers of the Big Bend, coming to the county over 20 years ago. The aged husband is a veteran of the Civil War, a member of the GAR Post of Davenport, and a familiar figure among the county pioneers.—Lincoln County Times” (Citizen: 8-12-1904) TS shows birth: August 2, 1833, married Dec 27, 1855, and died July 31, 1904.
Long, Sheridan: “Sheridan Long, age 78, a resident of the Bluestem community, died Friday after about a year’s ill health. The funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church here Sunday with the Rev Ernest Mitchell, Creston, officiating... Burial was in Mountain View Cemetery at Davenport. A Tennessee native, Mr. Long came to the Willamette Valley, OR, when he was four years old, with his parents, and came to Lincoln County in 1883. He resided on a farm in the Bluestem community since. He was prominent in Democratic party circles, was a Bluestem school director 20 years and was noted as an old-time fiddler. Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Clara Long, and a son, Ray Long, at the home. Sheridan Long was the last survivor of his branch of the Long family.” (Citizen: 5-05-1944)
Long, Thomas Martin: “On Sunday last the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Long near Mondovi, died from ptomaine poisoning. The supposed cause was from meat, but is not definitely known. He was two years old and a very strong, healthy child. The family has our sincere sympathy in their loss. Love, William: “Services over the remains of William Love, who died last Wednesday, were held in the Methodist Church Friday. The deceased was English by birth, but came to this place from Winnebago. A member of the Independent Order of Foresters, the member of Davenport lodge took charge of the funeral, about 50 following their brother to Mountain View Cemetery, where the remains were interred. His brother James, of Nelson, BC, was notified of his death and came down to attend the funeral.”
Lowery, Chester and Mary: “The family of Frank Lowary, living some 9 miles east of Davenport, have been sorely afflicted recently. Some two or three weeks ago two young children of the family, a boy, Chester, 3 years, and a girl, Mary, aged 2 years, were taken down with that most dangerous of all diseases, cerebral meningitis. It is an ailment that baffles the skill of all physicians, and is exceptionally painful to the afflicted. Both children were beyond hope for many days. Last week the little boy died and was buried Sunday in the Davenport cemetery. At the time of the funeral the little girl was not expected to live from hour to hour, yet she lingered until Tuesday when death came to her relief. It was a sad case and the parents have the sympathy of the whole community.” (LCT: 5-05-1899) “Among the many visitors at this office during the week was James Lowary, father of Frank Lowary, who lives a few miles southeast of town. The senior Lowary was called from his home in Idaho by the recent illness and death of his son’s children. The old gentleman can claim being one of the pioneer settlers of this county. He crossed the plains from Kansas in 1879 with a large company of emigrants, some of who are now living in this vicinity. He located first in Oregon. Mr. Lowary moved into what is now Lincoln County in 1883, and resided here for a number of years. His children grew up to manhood and womanhood on the homestead near here. He is now living with one of his sons in Idaho. Time has bleached his hair and corrugated his countenance, but Mr. Lowary is still a man of considerable vigor.” (LCT: 5-26-1899)
Lueck, Margaret: “Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church here at 2 p.m. Friday for Mrs. Margaret Lueck, age 83, pioneer who died Jan 24 (1939) at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. John Boleneus, north of Davenport. The Rev Lee Knoll had charge of the funeral service, and a mixed quartet sang, accompanied by Miss Mabel Inkster. Interment was in Mountain View Cemetery...” (Dav. Times & Trib.: 2-02-1939) “Mrs. Margaret Lueck, who would have been 84 years old Feb 4, passed away Tuesday evening... She had been ill for some time, and bed-fast for 6 months. A native of Germany, she came to Illinois when a girl of 16, and then lived in MN for some time, coming to Davenport region about 38 years ago. For the last 15 years she resided with Mr. and Mrs. Boleneus. Survivors are 5 children by her first marriage, including one daughter, Mrs. Anna Lueck and four sons, Henry Christian and Lewis Stude of Brewster, MN, and Charles Stude of St Paul, MN, and 5 children by her second marriage, including Mrs. Margaret Boleneus and William Lueck of Davenport, Ernest Lueck of Ovando, MT, Fred Lueck of Palouse, and Frank Lueck of Lewiston, ID, by a number of grandchildren including Raymond Haines of Spokane, and Kenneth Haines of Davenport, whom she helped rear, and by two sisters and a brother in IL.” (DT & T: 1-26-1039)
Lueck, William: “Funeral services were held in Davenport Saturday for William G. Lueck, age 67, who died in Spokane Nov 1, following a long illness. A native of MN, he came to this area in pioneer days; farmed for many years, and in recent years was employed by the county highway department. His first wife, Mrs. Emma Lueck, died six years ago. He married again last summer, and is survived by his widow, now in CA, four daughters, and two sons, 3 brothers, 4 half brothers and 17 grandchildren.” (Citizen: 11-10-1950)

Moore, William Rufus " William Moore, who has been living on the Tidland place north of Davenport, died November 4th at the home of his father, D. W. Moore, eleven miles north of Davenport. The cause of death is given as tumor of the brain and was hastened by an attack of pneumonia. Mr. Moore has been ailing all summer and was taken to a Spokane hospital some months ago but met with no encouragement so returned home. His age was 24 years 10 months and 19 days. Funeral services were conducted at the Presbyterian church November 5th by RE. Siegelman, Freda: " Mrs. Freda Siegelamn, age 73, wife of Otto W. Siegelman, a resident here for 34 years, died at Sacred Heart hospital in Spokane last Thursday evening. She had not been in good health for some times, and had been in the hospital for four days. Mrs. Siegelman was born in Germany, June 25, 1866, and came to the United States as a young woman. Shde was married to Mr. Siegelman at Deadwood, S. D., in 1890, and came to Washington with her husband the same years. They moved to Davenport in 1905, and havve resided here since. Survivors are her husband, two daughters, Mrs. Gertrude Webb, Seattle, and Mrs. Emily Utecht, Davenport, two sons, Otto Jr. and William Siegelman of Seattle, a number of grandchildren, and three sisters, Mrs. Henry Kahse, Mrs. Anna Knapprert and Mrs. Pauline Knappert, all of Davenport. Funeral services for Mrs. Siegelman were held Sunday at the Lutheran church in Davenport, with the Rev. E. H. Ahrendt officiating. Mrs. Fred Buck, Mrs. H. K. Furgeson, Robert Jepson and Rev. Ahrendt sang, accompanied by Mrs. O. W. Johnson. Interment was in the Lutheran cemetery here. Pall bearers were Emil Zimmerman, Fred Buck, H. A.
