Bischoff, Emma: (d. 9-15-2006, age 92); “Emma Bischoff died on Sept 15, 2006, at Lincoln Care Center in Davenport where she had resided the past five years. She was born in Ruff and lived all of her 92 years as a resident of Washington. She was the daughter of Matt and Mary Bischoff, who farmed in the Lamona area. She was a graduate of Kinman Business University in Spokane. Her first employment was at the Royal Café in Harrington in 1932. She subsequently worked at the J C Penney store, the Davenport Times, and the Lincoln County agriculture office in Davenport. After retiring she was a representative for Avon products. An avid reader, she enjoyed writing and receiving letters. She loved ice cream and dancing to ‘old’ country-western music. She delighted in baking sweets and sharing hunks of cake and bags of cookies with friends and shut-ins. She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Katz, of Spokane; and Joyloraine Hughes, of Bertrand, NE; grandchildren: Robin Hodges, of Monte Soreno, Ca; Lisa Sucher, of Rancho Rio, NM; Kevin Katz, of Davenport; Tami Austin, of San Diego, CA; Patrick Katz, of Davenport; and Jill Kisiah, of Andover, MN; 11 great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; one cousin, Harvey Nitschke of Harrington, and 32 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, June Chartrand and Bernice Smith, brothers, Matt Jr, Edwin and Albert, and grandson Timothy. Interment was at Mountain View Cemetery in Davenport on Sept 18. Strate Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.” (Odessa Record: 9-28-2006)
Bischoff, Milton E Milton E Bischoff, born Jan 27, 1921 in Ruff, died at the age of 65, a resident of Walla Walla. He was married on Oct 14, 1941 to Evelyn Adams in Othello, who survives him. He was an Army veteran of WW II and he came to Othello in 1941. He worked for the RR and also lived in Lind and Warden before moving to Walla Walla in 1981. Those surviving besides the wife, four daughters, Cora Nichols of Othello, Laura Drew of Moses Lake, Linda Jamieson of Connell and Jeanne Waddell of Walla Walla; two brothers, Billy of Montana and Norman of Marlin; a sister, Alice Spies of Moses Lake; his step-father, George Welton of Oregon; and 7 grandchildren. Burial was in Othello in Bess Hampton Memorial Garden. (notes from scrapbook item)

Blanchard, P J ‘Duke’: (1907-1983) d. 12-05-1983; “J P ‘Duke’ Blanchard passed away Dec 5, 1983 at San Luis Obispo, CA. He was born Dec 15, 1907 at Rathdrum, Idaho. He is survived by his wife LaVerne at the home; 3 step-daughters, Kay Wollman, Los Angeles; Linda Tracy, Seattle; Janet Duncan, Snohomish; 5 step-grandchildren; one sister, Helen Walton, Seattle; sister-in-law, Katie Blanchard, Spokane; his aunt, Helen Brigger, Coeur d’Alene; 2 nephews, Bud and Jerry Walton, Seattle; and five grand nieces. Duke was an avid golfer and was a past president of the Harrington Golf Course. He was past exalted ruler of the Colville Elks, a 50 year member of the WWP Trail Blazers, past president of the Colville Chamber of Commerce, past president of the Colville Kiwanis Club. Rosary services will be held Thursday, Dec 8, at 7 p.m. at the Chapel of the Strate Funeral Home, Father Tyrone Schaff officiating. Funeral services will be Friday, Dec 9 at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of the Strate Funeral Home, Rev Roger V Muisiner officiating. Interment at Mountain View Cemetery, Davenport. He was a veteran of the US Navy during WW II. Duke retired from Washington Water Power in Jan of 1972, at Colville. He married LaVerne Salter in March of 1972. Bliss, Myrtle I Hamilton Schillinger: (1918-1979); w/o Robert; “Myrtle I Bliss, who was born in Wilbur and lived most of her life in Davenport, died here Wednesday, Aug 29, 1979, at the age of 61. Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept 1 at the Chapel of Strate Funeral Home in Davenport with the Rev Roger V Muisiner officiating. Interment was held at Mountain View Cemetery in Davenport. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and the American Legion Auxiliary in Davenport. She is survived by four sons, Ronald L Schillinger, Pasadena, Texas, Jerry L Schillinger, Davenport, Dean A Schillinger, Davenport, Dale R Schillinger, St Maries, Idaho; 10 grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.” (Davenport Times: 9-06-1979);
Bliss, Robert Jess: (1907-1978) “Funeral services for Robert Bliss were held Monday, June 5, under the direction of Strate Funeral Home, with the Rev Roger V Muisiner officiating. Bliss was born on Dec 21, 1907 and died June 6, 1978 at Veteran’s Hospital in Spokane. He had served in the US Army during WW II and was a member of the local post of the American Legion. In 1964, he married Myrtle Hamilton in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho and had been employed as an electrician and electronics repairman for a number of years in Spokane. Survivors include his wife, Myrtle, in Davenport; four stepsons, Ronald Schillinger of Pasadena, TX, Jerry and Dean of Davenport, and Dale of Post Falls, ID. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren. Interment occurred at Mt View Cemetery in Davenport.” (Davenport Times: 6-15-1978);
