Gardner, Pearl A.;  (b. 1904; d. 1999; listing)  “Annie Pearl Gardner passed away May 28, 1999 at Lincoln Hospital. She was 95.  Memorial service will be held on Friday, June 25, 1 p.m. at the Creston Christian Church, and all of her family and friends are asked to join together to celebrate the life and memories of the ‘Cucumber Queen’. Pastor Warren Lynn will be officiating. Pearl was born in Sunset, WA, on March 17, 1904. She attended high school in Outlook, WA.  She and John Andrew Gardner of Addy, WA were married on June 27, 1923. She and John (Gassy) moved to Marble Valley, just north of Addy, to ranch log and raise a family.  Pearl retired from Boeing Aircraft Co of Renton in 1969. She and John then moved to Creston to start a new life of gardening, fishing, hunting and playing pinochle.  Pearl was preceded in death by her husband in 1978; one son, John J Gardner in 1982; two infant daughters, Gertrude in 1930 and Audrey Sue in 1932; and one daughter-in-law, Judith Marie Gardner of Renton, wife of James D Gardner, in 1999.  Pearl’s survivors include her three sons, Warren and wife Vivian of Marshall, Dale and wife Jackie of Nine Mile Falls, and James Duane of Renton; one daughter, Mildred Eileen Pfeiffer of Creston; one daughter-n-law, Leah M. Gardner of Las Vegas; 18 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; 15 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and many, many friends. Strate Funeral  Home in Davenport is in charge of arrangements.”  (Davenport Times: 6-24-1999)

Gibson, Charley E.;  (b. 1868; d. 1939; listing)  “Funeral services for C. E. Gibson, who died at Yamhill, OR, were conducted Saturday from the Creston Christian church. His widow and a son, Ray U Gibson, Davenport, survive.” (Odessa Record: 6-29-1939) “Funeral services for Charles E Gibson, age 70, pioneer of Creston, who died at Yamhill, Oregon, June 20, were held at the Christian church in Creston Saturday afternoon with the Bumgarner Funeral Home of Davenport in charge, and Rev Ernest I. Mitchell of Creston officiating. The Misses Bonnie and Naomi Greenwood sang, accompanied by Miss Lila Bell.  Interment was in the Creston Cemetery. Pallbearers were Charles Mangis, Elsie Greenwood, J.  J. Striegle, C. Watson and K. K  Folts of Creston and Lew Hutsell of Davenport.  Mr. Gibson was a native of Iowa, and was married in 1894 to Clara E. Melcher, who died in 1917. Later he married Susan C. Waterbury, who survives him. He came to the Creston community in 1906 and lived they until 1919, when he moved to Salem, Oregon, where he lived until 1925, when he moved to Sheridan, Oregon.  He is survived by his widow, and the following children and step-children: Ray U Gibson, Davenport; Odell Gibson, Spokane; Charles O. Gibson, Spokane; Miss Goldie Gibson, Eugene, Oregon; F.  E. Waterbury, Wauna, Oregon; Mrs. J. D. Potts, Marshfield, Oregon; Mrs. W. Father: Benedict Graf.”  (Edit: there are no listings in Davenport’s Mt View Cemetery for the surname Graf, and the certificate likely reflects that the remains were shipped to Davenport for burial; WA State Death Records); 

Graf, Emma; (unconfirmed burial). “Emma Graf. Died: 8 Jan 1925, age 71, Creston, Lincoln Co, WA.  Spouse: Emil Graf. Father: Brown. Mother: Harding.” (WA State Death Records);

Greenwood, Celina Raboin;  (b. 1843; d. 1913; w/o Raphael; listing) "Miss Celina Raboin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Raboin, was born in Three Rivers District, near Three Rivers City, Canada, January 06, 1843.  She came to L'Erable, Iroquois county, Illinois, when she was twelve years of age, her father being an early pioneer in that vicinity.   She was married February 22, 1868, to Raphael Greenwood at Bourbonais Grove, Kankakee county, Illinois.  They lived in the same vicinity as her father.  Eleven children were given to them, the first three dying in infancy. They came to Wilbur, Washington, in February 1893, and later settled near Creston where they resided until last September when Mrs. Greenwood's Health Compelled them to go to Davenport for physical attention.   She failed very rapidly so they came to the home of the oldest daughter, Mrs. James Sullivan, on Bachelor Prairie, where she was cared for until her death.  She was stricken Saturday, December 13, and failed rapidly becoming totally paralyzed finally, and death resulted Friday evening, December 19, at 6 o'clock, with her children near her. She is survived by her husband and seven children, Leonard having passed away six years ago; Lewis Greenwood of Hartline, Mrs. James Sullivan and Morris and Elsie Greenwood all of Creston; Mrs. George Scholer of Spokane; Mrs. Fred Lamotte of Opportunity, and Mrs. Harry Lumpert of Peach.  Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. F. B. Teter, formerly pastor of the Presbyterian Church of Creston and later an osteopath at Davenport, a warm friend of the entire family at 1 p.m. in the Presbyterian Church, interment being in the Creston cemetery. Mrs. Greenwood had won many warm friends by her patient, loving, kindly ways, and the services were largley attended.  She is mourned by many , and husband and children who were in her sphere will sadly miss her departed form.  In their advancing years their friends and children could not but notice the deep love and devotion shown by wife and husband as "sweethearts" still in a deeper, truer way; and husband, alone in his weakness and age has the deepest sympathy from all. Greenwood, Della Dora;  (b. 1893; d. 1978; s/w Elsie Wm; listing);  “Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at 11 o’clock at the Strate Funeral Home chapel and graveside service at the Creston Cemetery for Della Greenwood, who died Jan 29, 1978, at the Davenport Nursing Home.  Services were conducted by the Rev John Hubbard of Lake Roosevelt Parish. The casket bearers were grandsons of Mrs. Greenwood: Don Guhlke, Duane Guhlke, Robert Guhlke, Jerry Guhlke, Larry Buchanan, Merline Buchanan, Ronald  Buchanan and Gary Buck.  She was born July 22, 1894 in Virginia and came to the Creston area at seven years of age. She married Sept 24, 1913 to Elsie Greenwood. She and her husband farmed south of Creston for 33 years prior to retiring and moving to Davenport in 1946.  Survivors include four daughters: Mrs. Laurence (Naomi) Buchanan, Hunters; Mrs. Gene (Bonnie) Wolfrum, Davenport; Mrs. John (Rena) Sheffer, Louisville, KY; Mrs. Richard (Celia) Buck, Davenport; 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Mrs. Greenwood was a member of the Baptist Church, a lifetime member of the WCTU and a member of the Senior Citizens.” (Davenport Times:  2-02-1978)  “Della D Greenwood. Greenwood, Morris;  (b. 1881; d. 1944; s/w Helen; listing) “Stricken with a heart attack while caring for his chickens, Morris E. Greenwood, 62, Creston, was found dead by his wife. He came to the area in 1893. Surviving are the widow, one brother and four sisters.” (Odessa Record: 3-16-1944: County News)

Greenwood, Raphael;  (b. 1841; d. 1928; s/w Celina; listing) * “Raphael Greenwood was born in Three Rivers, Canada, in 1841. The father’s ancestors were among the earliest settlers of Canada, coming from France. They participated in the earliest wars and were in the country long before the Arcadian exile.  In 1862 Raphael went to Illinois where he farmed until 1893 when he came to Lincoln County. In 1868 he married Miss Celina Raboin. He enlisted in Company L, First Washington volunteers, in 1898. He was discharged from this service and immediately entered the engineer force at Manila and served until 1903, when he was discharged on account of sickness.  Coming back to the Big Bend country when the great depressions swept the entire United States and when a winter of unexpected severity fell upon them, Mr. Greenwood had a most trying time, both for himself and his family. However, they were of sturdy stock and faced their hardships cheerfully and overcame them, thus winning their way to the best of success.”

Gullikson, Dorthy J.;  (b. 1904; d. 1994; s/w Alf G; listing)  “Funeral service for former longtime Creston resident Dorthy Jeannette (Blaisdell) Gullikson was held Tuesday at the Wilbur Lutheran Church, with Pastor Mike Nelson officiating. Interment was at the Creston Cemetery. Mrs. Gullikson died Aug 19, 1994 in Greenacres. She was 90.  She was born to Herbert and Jeannette Blaisdell on Jan 31, 1904, at Creston. After graduating from Creston High School, she attended Cheney Normal, then taught school until her marriage to Alf Gullikson in 1927.  They farmed north of Creston for a number of years, moving into town upon retirement.  Mrs. Gullikson worked in the Creston Post Office for a time, then enjoyed the activities at the Wilbur Lutheran Church, the Wilbur Senior Center, the Creston Civic Club and other community affairs. In 1990, she moved to the Good Samaritan Center in Greenacres, where she remained until her death.  Mrs. Gullikson was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alf, in 1975; and one brother, Jack Blaisdell, in 1986.  She is survived by one brother, Richard Blaisdell of Greenacres; two sisters, Willa Brown of Davenport and Bonnie Knoll of Otis Orchards; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. (Misc. Ledgers: B-108) Presbyterian Church of Creston, filed Dec 6, 1899, with J. W. Maib (Pres) W. R. Foster (Sec), and D. F. McKay (Treas).

Gabbert:  “Mr. James Gabbert, one of our good Creston readers, presented the office with a lot of fine eating apples Wednesday morning.” (LCT: 9-11-1896)

Gabbert:  James Gabbert, a farmer living near Creston, having lost a number of cattle, tracked the same to the vicinity of Rock Lake, where he found them in a pasture belonging to a man named John Hancock.  It is passing strange that stock should stray from all points of the compass into that neighborhood. Must be some attraction there.” (LCT: 11-01-1895)

Gollaher:  * Emery D. Gollaher, a native of Indiana, journeyed to California in 1870, thence to Washington in 1889, and to Lincoln County in 1894. In later years of his life he spent much time in reading and study and was recognized as one of the most intelligent men in his community.”  (Wilbur Register: Golden Jubilee) Emary D. Gollaher was born in Indiana in 1860, the son of Allen and Eunice (Daggett) Gollaher. His father was a Civil War veteran.  His mother died when he was a young child, and the father came to Washington in 1894. Emary came to Lincoln County first in 1880 in company with Peter Cuddeback. In 1886 he was married to Miss Nettie Harsin. Two children were born, Frankie and Raymond. (details from 1904 History of Big Bend-p. 306)

Golliker: “Mrs. Golliker has built a nice room for the purpose of doing dressmaking and millinery work. Give her a call.” (LCT: 3-08-1901)

Goss:  Harry H. Goss of Creston and Miss Jennie Willcuts of Gas City, Indiana, were united in marriage at Spokane Tuesday, Feb 23.” (Citizen: 3-05-1909)

Greenwood:  “Miss Ester Greenwood, of Creston, is again teaching school at Sans Po-el, this making her second term. Miss Greenwood received a hearty welcome from her old friends and patrons of the school.” (LCT: 11-20-1896)
