BIOGRAPHY OF IDA HANKEL

                    

 

                                                               

 

                                    This photo is Ida Hankel and her 1st husband David Dallas.

Ida was born April 22, 1877, Hampton, Hamilton County, Nebraska. She came to Lincoln County with her family before November 11, 1889. Her parents were Carl and Charlotte Fryer Hankel. 

Her first husband was David Dallas (born unknown) who she married December 30, 1903, Fairview (Wilbur) Lincoln County.  David May 18, 1904 but don't know where.

Her second husband was Malcolm McMillan who was born August 8, 1880 in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Canada. They married January 4, 1907 in her mother's house (Charlotte Hankel, father Carl was deceased by then), Fairview, Lincoln County.

They had Harry Roscoe who was born September 21, 1907, Wilbur; Ray Malcomb born January 4, 1909, Wilbur; Earl Francis born May 30, 1911; Florence Ethel born June 27, 1913; Hazel Charlotte born October 15, 1914. All of these families stayed in the Wilbur area. 

Ida died March 16, 1933, Wilbur. She had been a school teacher for 9 terms near Wilbur.

Malcolm died January 11, 1935, Spokane but he had been a farmer near Wilbur his entire life (probably died in a hospital in Spokane).

 Dallas-Hankel
 At the home of the bride's mother ten miles southwest of Wilbur, Mr. David Dallas and miss Ida Hankel were united in marriage on Wednesday evening, December 30, 1903, Rev. J. E. Daniels of their M. E. church, Wilbur officiating.
 The bride's large circle of near relatives and a number of friends were present. A very pleasant affair is reported.
 The groom is a stranger to the Register, but the bride has grown up from childhood, in the community and is a young lady of excellent character, respected by all her acquaintances and by nature fitted to be a good wife.
 May the new year and every other new year, bring a goodly share of happiness to Mr. and Mrs. Dallas.

 Wilbur Register 1904
 Died At Spokane
 Last Thursday, Mrs. Hankel who lives ten miles south of town, received a message from her daughter, Mrs. David Dallas, that Mr. Dallas died at two o'clock Tuesday morning. Last August, Mr. Dallas was injured internally by a companion taking hold of him and suddenly pulling him over backwards. He began suffering immediately, but was not incapacitated until a few weeks ago, when he went to Spokane and entered a hospital. Mrs. Hankel's son, William went to Spokane yesterday.
 Mr. Dallas was married to Miss Ida Hankel's last winter.

 Quiet Wedding
 Rev. D. W. Myers reports the marriage of Malcomb McMillan and Ida P. Dallas, at the home of the bride's mother, Mrs. C. Hankel's on Tuesday, January 8th, 1907. Only members of the family and a few intimate friends were present. Mr. McMillan is a native of Canada, who had lived in the neighborhood two or three years, while the bride is well known in Wilbur and the country south, where she has grown up from childhood. The many friends of the bride extend congratulations to the happy couple.
