McNew granddaughter dies after illness

"Word received in Goldendale last week told of the death at Yelm of Lauree Ann McNew. 7-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James C. McNew, and granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon McNew of Goldendale. Her death followed a lengthy illness.

Jim McNew was associated with his parents in the Western Auto Associate store in Goldendale for about a year, before moving 3 ½ years ago with his family to Yelm, where he had purchased a liquid gas distributorship. During their residence here, the James McNews lived on North High Street.

Lauree was born at Port Townsend, April 15, 1957. She was a McKenna grade school student at Yelm.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by two brothers, Marcus Eugene and John Warner, in the family home; the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon D. McNew, Goldendale, and Mr. and Mrs. Warner L. Curtis, Port Townsend, and the great – grandparents, Mrs. Gertrude McNew of Spokane, John H. Curtis of Granite Falls, and Mrs. Hilda Myers of Marysville.

Funeral service was held Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. Burial was in Spokane."
