George Francis Freer

"George Francis Freer was born in Goldendale to Harry and Esther (Smith) Freer on February 27, 1923. He joined the Navy in 1944 and served in the South Pacific during World War II. Mr. Freer was honorably discharged from military service on June 11, 1946. He went to welding school but spent most of his life farming or helping others on their farms. He also worked various construction jobs.

George passed away on July 8, 2013 in Goldendale. He was 90 years old. Mr. Freer was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou; his parents Harry and Esther Freer; five siblings Richard, Alice, Harriet, June and Evelyn; two nieces and one nephew.

He left behind one sister, Elnora Winterstein and her husband Arthur, and one brother, Lee Freer.

A graveside service will be held at Spring Creek Cemetery on Wednesday, July 17 at 3 pm. Columbia Hills Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements."
