Dorothy May Young

"Dorothy May Young, 86, longtime resident of Goldendale, died Oct. 21, 2006, at the Mid-Columbia Medical Center in The Dalles.

She was born Feb. 11, 1920, in Goldendale to Orrin L. and Pearl Blanche Woods.

Dorothy graduated from Roosevelt High School. On Dec. 28, 1938, she married George Bean. He died Feb. 1960. In 1979, she married William F. Young, he died Jan. 31, 1994.

Dorothy worked at Niemi's Variety store for many years. She was a member of American Business Women's Association and the Rebekah Lodge in Goldendale. She enjoyed crocheting and spending winters in Arizona with her late husband.

Dorothy was preceded in death by two sons, Robert George and Eddie Allen Bean; a daughter Rosetta Vest and two brothers, Olin and Oliver Woods.

Survivors include a son, Gerald (Jerry) Bean, of Goldendale; a daughter, Donna J. Walker of Yakima; 19 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren and a sister, Bonnie Dayton of Reno, Nev.

Graveside services were held Oct. 25 at Mt. View Cemetery, with Pastor Ken Akins officiating. Erdman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements."
